Laser Hair Removal- If You've Had It Please Respond.... Posted: 04-14-06 02:00am
I am not sure if this is the right place
to post this but I have unwanted facial
hair as do many other women. However I
started shaving mine (then it was just
peach fuz and I should have left it alone)
but after three years of shaving I now
have to do it every day because it is much
thicker and noticable. And even though
many women hae this problem its still
embarassing considering I have to make
sure to shave my face before I see my
bf!!! I want laser hair removal really
bad, but I am not sure I can afford to do
it. Anyone have any idea of how much it
costs to get it done on your face? Is
that per treatment or for a set of
treatments? And has anyone had any
problems with it or heard of any... I
dont want to have it done to my face and
come to find out that it ruins my skin!
Any help or advice you can give would be
appriciated. Thanks

Cdtcommander,
I had laser hair removal about 5 years
ago. It cost me around $1000 for a set
of treatments to do the upper lip, chin,
neck, and chest. But for me it was not
permanent, probably because my hormone
imbalance problems were not completely
fixed. They say it works better for
people with dark hair and light skin,
which I have. I didn't really have any
skin problems after other than redness
lasting longer than they said it would
(they said I would be red for an hour or
two- I was red for a day or two).
Since then I have moved to a different
state and recently looked into having it
done again at a local spa with the hopes
that my hormones will stay normal now. I
also hoped it might cost less since it
seems that laser hair removal is becoming
more common. Unfortunatley, I am not
having it done because now it would cost
me over $2000 for a set of treatments on
just the lip and chin! Maybe the cost
differs from place to place and wouldn't
cost so much somewhere else.
If I were you I would go to the doctor and
find out what the cause of the hair growth
is and see if there's anything you can do
to keep more new hair from growing. My
doctor put me on birth control to help
regulate my hormones and keep new hair
from growing, but I stopped taking the
pill after I had laser hair removal and
new hair grew back. Being a woman and
having to shave really sucks!
