So guys I finalllyyy got a doctors
appointment yesterday ..But had to drive
40 minutes to get there...Anyways i've
always had problems with getting sick alot
since I can remember...Mostly strep
throat(spelling?)...So when I was in 5th
grade I had surgery ...They took my
adnoids(spelling?)out..But not my
tonsils...Well since I still have the
problem...Now im having to go back under
to get my tonsils taken out im so scared
and mad because they should have took them
both out at the same time...I can still
remember the problems I had after having
the first surgery and now they tell me
that this time is going to be worse
because im older..So does anyone here know
what it feels like after getting your
tonsils out ..At a older age?...

My mom had hers taken out when she was in
college, and she said it hurt. I'm not
sure how to relate that pain to how it
feels for a kid, though, as i've never had
it done.
Sorry you aren't feeling well and have to
have the surgery. :( you get lots of ice
cream!

Jillian, I had my tonsils taken out when I
was 9 years old. I really don't remember
much pain, maybe like a scratchy throat.
The worst part for me was recovering from
the anesthesia, because me and anesthesia
don't mix, lol. I threw up for the first
day, and I had some problems taking my
fluids like I was supposed to. You'll be
layed up in bed for a few days, don't get
me wrong, but the pain isn't that bad.

I was 19 when I had my tonsils out and,
whilst it did hurt at the time and
immediately afterwards, it was definately
worth it in the long run.
I had a few complications following so
that may have contributed to the pain but
you will get pain meds following and there
are far more painful things in life!

I got mine taken out 3 years ago (i was
23).. I wont lie, it hurt like a health
forum! But much better now I got
tonsilitis 2 or 3 times a month since I
was at school and the doctor eventually
referred me to get them out!
It is sore but you get lots of painkillers
and if you take them regularly then the
pain never gets unbearable. It is sore
but the best thing to eat after it is
toast to get rid of all the crap in your
throat.
Good luck!
