Was It Carpal Tunnel?

Hi, was diagnosed a year ago with bilateral cts based on mildly positive phalen and tinel. Symptom that led me to seek medical help was pain in the wrist and base of thumb on the left. (i'm right hand dominant). Had had two prior steroid injections with little or no relief. No emg or nerve conduction studies were done prior to surgery which took place one week after the 15-minute office visit where the cts was diagnosed. (dx apr 19, surgery apr 26). There was no relief, and a few weeks later the doctor did another steroid injection, this one in the wrist. He needle entered a nerve - ouch! Since then the pain has become progressively worse, now with weakness and muscle spasms in the operated hand. I went to a neurologist today and had emg and nerve conduction testing on both hands. The right hand shows very mild cts, the left shows none. I will also mention that I have type 2 diabetes, which of course my surgeon was aware of prior to surgery. Where do I go from here? I wish I could go back to the condition I was in before surgery; this is so much worse. Thanks for any input you can give me.
