5 years ago I had unprotected sex with a
man which I know that had many sex
partners. Ejaculation was always outside
my body except once. 5 1/2 months after
first contact and approx. 9 weeks from
this once time I menioned above, I get
sick and had swollen gland on my neck.
The diagnosis was sinus infection. After
this I don't have any significant health
problems. Recently I read about early hiv
infection symptoms and get crazy. I'm
constantly thinking of it and getting more
and more crazy that my illness 5 years ago
means something else. Am I worrying for
nothing and should I get tested?

There is a very low risk of getting hiv
from giving a blowjob. You are well past
the window periond and if you want to
relieve your concerns test.

Possible Hiv Infection Posted: 04-13-06 03:30am
It wasnot a blowjob, I had sex with that
particular guy. Even I know it;s been 5
years ago and I don;t experience any
significant health problems in this period
still i'm having nightmares that maybe
this mistake I made will cost me too
much....
Still, i'm thinking of test more and more
often...
How long it takes to get the results?

you should go get a test since this seems
to be worrying you greatly. I know I
would not remember swollen glands from 5
years ago. Good luck.

Yes, have a test. But remember the odds
are very mcuh in your favour for a
negative result.
1. This person is not confirmed hiv+
2. An episode of unprotected vaginal sex
with someone who is hiv+ carries
approximately a 1 - 3% risk of infection
(stats vary according to different
research).

Anything is possible, my suggestion is is
that you should get tested just to relieve
your mind and please be careful from now
on!
Good luck to you!
