Q: Pregnancy After a Hysterectomy

I was reading the topic pregnancy after a hysterectomy and was curious to find out if anyone was actually pregnant. I recently had a vaginal hysterectomy and my tubes and ovaries were left in place. I would love to find out the outcome of the pregnancy. I pray that you all are doing well and I truly believe in miracles.

I am not a medical doctor, but I would strongly advise against you getting your hopes up. Many people in this forum are upset with a certain individual who claims to be pregnant after a hysterectomy becuase she is giving false hope to women like you. There are cases of abodminal pregnancy, but nearly all invovled a uterus. Nearly all abdominal pregnancies or pregnancies outside the womb are extremely dangerous. Both to mother and fetus I believe all such pregnanies end with death of the fetus and potential death to the mother. Please don't allow the fanatical ravings of someone with no medical license cause you to hope for something you can't have. Talk with your doctor about any chances you might have at children. I'm sure what you had to go through was very difficult and my thoughts are with you. But just like the tabloids be careful what you believe. If you were just curious about the subject I believe there is a link in the pregnancy forum under the heading new pictures.

Have a good day and good wishes to you

Exactly.

No uterus = no pregnancy unless it is a very very rare case, such as having kept the tubes and there already being an egg in the tube at the time of surgury, leading to a potential fatal tubal ectopic.

Or in another extreme rare case where the lady happened to have a "didelphic" uterus or more simply put a uterus divided in two (double uterus) and only one half was removed.

Both cases are extremely rare.
A double uterus would normally be picked up in the teens/early 20's, occassionally as late as during in a pregnancy, and very very rarely as late as during in surgury.
There is only one case I have come across during my extensive research, where a double uterus has been missed completely.

Pregnancy After Hysterectomy
Thank you both so much for the responce. I was really just curious about the situation because my doctor told me the only way I would have any more children is to adopt. I know the body is an amazing thing but I was just surprised when I was reading the information. Thanks again for the responses. Take care!

I don't think anyone is denying the fact that a woman can have two uterus's (uteri?? Lol). I was refering to "someone" saying that they are pregnant without having any uterus at all. But I don't want to get too heavily into that subject. I don't want this thread to be closed. I've actually read about pregnancies where the woman had two uterus's. It's amazing the things that can happen with the human body. There's even cases I believe of people with two hearts, livers etc. Amazing.

Sparkles to everyone. Kat

Hi mountainroad,

i was recently experiencing some complications with my hysterectomy as well. I had a tvh back in february. My stomach was swelling and I was retaining water. I had to go to a different doctor because my doctor acted the same way like he didnt care. They told me that I had an infection. They gave me some antibiotics and I am feeling alot better.
Good luck to you and I hope you feel better!

Take care

Hysterectomy And Pregnancy
Hello I am trying to find out if its possible to have a child this is my situation: I have had a hysterectomy, but I still have my ovaries and tubes, the reason I had the hysterectomy is that I was with a man that cheated on me alot and I came down with an std called hpv and it turned into cancer so the doctors told me I had to have a hysterectomy. Now I am with a man that has no children and would love to have a child with me I know I cant give him a child, but I was wondering if anyone knew if it could be possible knowing I still have my ovaries and I still produce eggs I just dont have my cervix and uterus. Is it possible to have something done some kind of procedure so I will be able to have a child? Please if anyone out here has any helpful info please help me I would greatly appreciate the help any doctors you know of or if you know of anyone that has been able to have a child after this type of procedure. Thank you for all your help and info its greatly appreciated...
