Question For Those With Pcos
Posted: 04-07-06 16:53pm

I have been reading up on pcos lately. My biggest question is, can someone have pcos and not have irregular periods? The reason I ask is that, despite exercise in the last year I have gained 40 lbs and climbing. I can't seem to make it stop. The weight seems to be collecting around my waist and my hips. I have always had a very small waist and average hips, until now. I have been very moody for about five months. I chalked this up to stress. I have been off of bc since september and have yet to get pregnant. My next question is, with pcos would a home opks say you are ovulating? I have taken them for two months and it says I ovulate each month. My periods are anywhere from 28 - 31 days between. I have an appointment to get a yearly physical and get checked out on the 12th and wanted to know if I should ask about this condition. Please, anyone who has this please let me know if I am barking up the wrong tree. I know that each of us wants to know what is wrong with us that we can not conceive. We all want to know if isn't our fault, but I am really concerned. Thanks.

Hypothyroidism can cause weight gain, and I do believe that you can gain weight from stopping your birthcontrol, I dunno bout that part though, hypothyroidism causes weightgain, hairloss, depression, etc. Etc.. Ya can look it up online to see, maybe that is what is going on :d I dunno that either, just a suggestion!

Hi hopefullin,
have you been diagnoise to have pocs. For most pcos, we don't have regular period and maybe home ov kit may not work cos we have absolutely no idea when is our ov. Period cycle can be 40 over days and you may like to take a hormons test.
I put on weight like nobody business even when I am not eating. In the past I thought I was greedy and find means and ways to diet. I have been ttcing for 3 years and only last year that I found that I have pcos. I am on clomid now.

Baby dust and good luck

Pcos is polycystic ovarian syndrome. Thanks for all of your replies. I believe that I am ovulating and have regualar periods. Just wanted to know if there could be some other explaination for this all. I will check out the thyroid thing though as that does run in the family on my mother's side I guess. Thanks again for the thoughts.

One of the biggest symptoms of pcos is very irregular periods and weight problems. Your best bet if you are trying to conceive is to find a fertility specialist who has experience with pcos. There are medications and dieting procedures than can help minimize the impact that pcos will have on conception

good luck to you!
