Hello to everyone. I am new at this. I have always suffered from severe depression and anxiety. Since july of 2003 I have had some symptoms going on. I have only blacked out once. I get spells where I get really weak, sweat, shake, dizzy, and my lips get blue. It all justs hits me at once. I went to a Dr. And he blamed it all on the depression. Does anybody know if that is possible? I am 29 and hate being on the medications. Any advice would be great ! Confused

Hi,

i am 42 and I experience the same things (minus the blue lips part) when I become anxious. I am told that when you are in a severe depression, it affects your entire body. I had no idea that this was part of depression and I really don't like it. Rolling Eyes

hope this helps. Anyone else???

Hi,

i suffer some of the same symptoms too. You should try relaxation techniques, including deep breathing, imagery also yoga & or pilates can help you learn how to overcome/deal/cope with all this which in turn will reduce the affects.

You should also look into things (that each work for some people & not others, as we are all different) like herbal teas, essential oils like lavender are good for relaxing (although I personally hate lavender, like I said we're all different), certain vitamin &/or minerals like omega 3 fish oils, vitamin b6, another way to calm yourself is to take a long warm perfumed bath with some candles around (if possible).

Try to figure out when these spells are most likely to occur so that you can be prepared (for me it's often if i'm out alone so I try to avoid this!!), if out sit down as soon as you can & I find a cold drink helps, along with concentrating on breathing deeply.

You say your dr blamed it on depression but depression usually (although not always) has a cause, so are you seeing anyone (counsellor/psychiatrist even a support group) that might help you to come to terms with the underlying cause?

Anxiety is not always caused by depression (some people have anxiety attacks if they see a spider or are in a small space, because they're afraid of these things!! But they're not depressed, I can not be anywhere near trees or bushes or I just freeze & am terrified so I avoid them but that has nothing to do with my depression).

So try & see if the attacks are related to any event/place/person. If they're more generalized attacks i'd try the things I suggested above & personally if you can get it some 5htp (a supplement of tryptophan) which will help reduce stress due to the way it works on the serotonin levels in our brain.

Good luck.

Relax
Hi
isuffered from panic attacks, I only had 3 but it was the most terrifying moments of my life, they started after I was referred to the hospital for an mri scan. The feeling of being "closed in " started the attacks although I have never had them before, however I tried reiki
and I have never had one since.

I must admit I was sceptical about reiki but it worked for me, and I am sure anyone who has ever sufferd an attack will try anything.

Give it a try

Thank You
I will definitely give these things a chance. It is hard to go see a counselor because I have no health insurance. It's weird because sometimes I don't really know what sets the attacks off. That is the most frustrating part. The other part that makes me mads is that I will have to live with this stuff the rest of my life. It is nice to talk to people who go through the same thing! Are there any chat groups out there for people to get in for stuff like this? Once again thank you all so much! Wink

There may(probably are) some chat groups that could help. The other thing since a counsellor is a cost problem might be to look in your local paper & see if there're any local support groups, or a free health or commumtiy centre either of which may run groups that could be of help.

Sad hello.I too am new.I really don't know what the hell is wrong with me.I'll fill you all in and any info you can send me, would be great.I'll start off with I do beleive I have depression or mindf*ck.All I want to do is sleep.I have kids, so that gets hard.I'm a female part of the body every day.I'm not happy if i'm not drinkin,or on a pill.I am a responsible mom,i do it after they sleep. But i'm a health forum during the day.I haven't been to a doc. Yet.And medically I just ended my period about 2 wks. Ago,and got it again today. What the hell?Does this sound like stress or maybe from having abnormal a-cells a while back and not getting it takin care of.I'm messed up.I feel messed up.I feel worthless and everything I do,just gets messed up.My sister went to a doctor, and they told her she needed vitamins.I don't think I need no damn vitamins, but I do need advice, and not someone telling me i'm phscho. Please help!

Lil_mama,

you say you want advice but obviously you aren't about to take it because you're too drunk or doped up on tablets as for vitamins what help would they be. You need to detox, get clean & start looking after your kids because no matter what you say you are not a responsible mum. Hell you don't know the meaning of the word.

Go into detox, then find out the reasons why you felt the need to abuse substances in the first place. As for vitamins, they cant be any worse than what you're doing to yourself (and your kids) now.

If you read most of my other posts you would see a different attitude, because of the different attitude of the people who are truly asking for & willing to accept & act on the advice given.

You say you want help, but you can't see past your foul mouth & closed mind to accept any ideas. If you're sad, down & drinking/popping pills you're not eating properly which means that vitamins would help you.

You say you're a good mother well a good mother would know that but you just say "i don't think I need no damn vitamins" so you don't even try an obvious source of help. Vitamin b6 for example is known to help reduce stress.

You say you only drink & take pills when your kids are asleep but you also say you're a health question and a during the day but according to you you're a responsible mum. My question is when? If the kids sleep at night & you drink & take pills then they get to be around the c**t & health question you say you are during the day. That is not what normal people call a good mum or a good environment for kids!!

Reesecup,

you need to get your thoughts into gear, right now they're negative & that affects negatively your ability to get better, you said you have to live with this for the rest of your life, but, where there's life there's hope & if you look, research & act on advice etc then you can find an answer but only if you're willing to act!!

Now get out there & find a support group near you since a counsellor seeems to be out (unless there's a charitable organization that might have counsellors or group sessions??).

Go & start learning some relaxation techniques like yoga or pilates (you can do these at home in front of the tv, on a mat & with a video) , meditation, walking, especially around sunrise(at that hour it works on our brain chemicals to help relax us). Vitamins & minerals. Also 5htp (look up tryptophan on a search engine) & dhea (check search engine for details).
