Trey will be 10 months old on the 21st and is .S.T.I.L.L. Not sleeping through the night. We have tried everything. I am going back to work probably next week and don't know how i'm gonna handle it! He sleeps maybe a total of 11 hours a day including naps and I am at then end of my rope.

Sleep Deprived
Hey not that this will help much but my 71/2 year old has cerbral palsey (mild) and has never slept through the night. Well maybe here and there but not really. Some things you might try are a lullaby cd that you put on repeat, white noise or very simply if he isn't crying let him play quietly w/o you in the room. I don't believe in letting a cild cry it out but if he's quiet let him look at a toy or something till he falls back asleep. Also you might try cutting back on naps and even one o those vibrating crib attachments. I've tried all of these things and they worked (somewhat) for my child short term. She has some sensory issues so her situation is different but maybe one of these things will work for you.

I've never dealt with this, seeing as how i'm still pregnant.. I read in some magazine about something like this though. Maybe you could try to keep him up a little more during the day.

yeah...Like samantham mentioned...Keeping them up during the day is the best way to fight this. I've gone through this with my younger brother and my niece and during babysitting jobs (week long and month long jobs)...Lol! Of course...They will still need some sleep...But try to keep him up a little longer before taking nap time and if he usually sleeps for 2 hours at a time...Try waking him up after an hour. He may be grumpier at first...But by bed time...He will need to make up for those hours he didn't get during the day...And will likely sleep longer before waking again. Once he gets used to this routine...You will have a baby who is more awake and alert during the day...And much sleepier by bed time. It will be rough at first...But worth it in the long run. I know this is easier said than done...But it's worth a shot. It's worked for me in the past though. :)
good luck!

Well i'm right there along with ya'll but mine is two and still won't sleep through the night. Sometimes he will but others he won't. In some case's he is have night terror attaks and sleep walking. Weird, though that at the age of two he is doing all of this. And not only does he not sleep through the night but for the past week or so he won't sleep in his bed he has to be in the bed with me and his father. I don't have any advise as i'm still trying to get him to sleep all night myself.

jacob will .N.O.T. Sleep through the night. He wakes up at like, 5 am every damn day and wont go back to sleep til hes in bed with me and .Rob. (this is after we fought with him til between 1 and 3 to go to sleep in the first place...)
i thought by 9 months he'd be over this. He wasnt doing it til we moved up here from .Florida. Maybe its a sign... (i was told babies can detect evil... Maybe my mother-in-law is the problem....)
*sigh*

it's because your not in fla any more,. It's always better in fla

This is most likely a ridiculous source to quote (hehe), but I saw once on that .Super .Nanny or .Nanny 911 or whatever the show is called where these kids (definitely not babies anymore) were not sleeping at night. She addressed what others have mentioned, like limiting naps, but she also said something about the time of day the kids napped. They were taking naps in the afternoon and then only had a few hours between the nap and when they were expected to go to bed. Of course, that wasn't working. Lol.

I've tried. I'll only let him nap for like 1 hour at 1ish and still he's up 2-3 times and up early too.

I already posted this once but I will put it here too:

as far as sleep goes, we are finally getting sleep and I attribute that to 8oz bottles with 4 tablespoons of rice cereal and 4 heaping scoops of prosobee powder. Maybe jace could use some super heavy food before sleepy time and he might make it through the better part of a night.

i dont know if he is a heavy sleeper or not, but my aunt had the same probelm with her twin boys and she would let them come in their room and fall back asleep, and then move them back to their bed, that way they woke up there and eventually they adjusted....Something you might want to try!

Oh yeah sandyallen ...I think I will pass on the whiskey...I'd rather my son wake up in the night than to make him drunk...

I was only kidding, I know they did it in the olden days but it worked for my kids to with the wash rag and whiskey aam it was not in 1936 but I would never give my kids a shot of whiskey in their bottles at night, like I believe it was jillian said I got up with my kids too, mine were somewhat spoiled too and I was not a bad mother and I would never turn my kids into alcy's, that was the part that I was kidding about, heck you can't be serious all of the time you got to have a little fun sometime.
The best to you all!

Dunno if this will work but I put my baby on sorta a scheduel. If she sleeps during the day I let her take small 30min naps, maby 3 or 4 times, but more than that and she wont go to sleep at night , also, I always give her a warm bath every night at 10:00, then feed her afterwards, that seems to help a bit. But the trick is you have to keep you baby up, it took me 4days to get her to stay up during the day, she would get cranky when I woke her up, and I was really tired myself, lol, but its worth it now to get sleep at night. She'll usually wake up like one time during the night and i'll feed her and shes back to sleep. I hope your little one starts goin to sleep at night! Good luck
