Okay about a month or two ago I found two lumps on the lower left side of my skull and I can't seem to figure out what it is and no one can see it but I know it's there. I don't really have access to a doctor so I can't go get it check. It hurts when I touch it and I don't know what to do.

I'm only 13 and last night I found a hard lump on the back of my head. It doesn't hurt and I have no symptoms but it does feel weird when I lay on it. I'm scared it might be cancer or something. My mom said it's nothing and that everyone has it. But I don't believe it. Im so scared I haven't slept properly since I found it. Any help? It's hard (feels like my skull), it's not too big, and its painless and I have no symptoms.

Same Lump plus huge swollen lymph nodes
Hey, I have the same symptoms; painful hard lump on back left side of my head, headaches, dizzyness and blackouts when i stand up. But the lymph nodes on the left side of my neck and behind my ear are also swollen and leading to the lump. They've never gotten this large or hard, and they are extremely sensitive to touch. I haven't been able to sleep well because my neck and head hurt so much. Has anyone actually figured out what this is?

I googled this issue because I woke up this morning with a weird feeling in my head. About 3 hours later, I noticed I had a soreness on the right back side of my head about an inch above the hairline. It feels like a deep nodule/bump as if my skull is protruding out. But strangely when I put both of my hands symmetrically onto the back of my head, both sides feel the same shape and size. Except the right side is sore. so, it's a mere perception that there is a nodule. I have no idea what is causing this but it's really freaky. My head still feels weird. My neck is sore and my eyes burn.

Sore lump and headache, I figured it out!
I wanted to update everyone that is having this issue.
I believe my issue was an allergic reaction.

I am a runner; and I have quite a few allergies, and as the doctor put it, I develop my allergies--if I use a particular product or eat a certain food for a period of time, my body develops an antibody to get or keep that food or product out or off of my body.

My allergic reactions are usually: Breakouts on my face, itchy skin, and eyes and a runny nose.

I was noticing little pimple like bumps on my hairline and scalp for the last couple of weeks (before the lump on the right, back side of my head became painful) and I was having increased headaches.

I thought about anything new I had used for hair product lately, and I narrowed it down to either the Nexxan hairspray or Frizz ease mousse that I had been using.

Even though I wash my hair everyday, I believe that the product built up on my scalp, and after work I put my running clothes on and hit the trails just made the product easier to soak into my scalp.
What I did:
I used baking soda and mixed it with a little shampoo for the next few days while I washed my hair (a hairdresser gave me the tip a long time ago on how to get product build up out of your hair and to brighten your color, if you're a blonde) I stayed away from all product. and in 2 1/2 to 3 days my head / scalp ache was gone, no more little bumps on my scalp either.
I am staying away from all Mousse products, and if I really need to style my hair I will use a tiny bit of hairspray.and wash my hair with baking soda weekly, or bi-weekly.

I hope this may help someone else.

Hey, went to the drs a few days ago. Found out i had mono and the lump on the back of my head was just a swollen lymph node fighting my mono. So if you have this lump, check your neck for lumps too because you may likely have an infection. You should go get checked by your doctor.

Me too me too bump on me head
I have just discovered a lump on the lower right hand side of my head. And I immediately went to my dad (he is a doctor) he felt it and said he thinks it's a bug bite but I don't thinks. It really hurts and the lump is about the size of a silver half dollar. I have been having a constant headache since October in 2011 and be really sick since then with dumping ranging from vomiting strange not natural colors, dizziness when I go up stairs or just stand, blurred vision and many others I have had everything from MRIs CT scans xrays even an ultrasound of my gal bladder? Every doctor I have gone to has said there is nothing wrong. Which is frustrating because every-time I go to the doctor no matter the symptom they say nothing is wrong with me. I have gone to a neurologist and he gave me medicine for the headache but it is not working and is only making matters worse. My symptoms have gotten so bad that I have had to drop out of college because of the daily pain. Is this lump or bump what I need to show my doctors something is wrong? Can it be cancerous? My dad is an oncologist (cancer doctor) and you would think he would say something like he will check on it in the morning not. It will be gone in like ten minutes. Why are doctors so in helpful?

Lump in head
I have one of these now and researched them. I found out that they are most common to happen when you have had an infection and it is your optical lymph gland that swells up. I went to the dr and he gave me a simple 7 day antibiotics to get rid Of the virus. He said it will go down in a few days and to go back if it was still there in 2 weeks. My advice, go to the doctors they now best and will help you out . Also don't get worried about it as your glands swell up all the time when you are ill.

Here is a link to a very useful website about it

I have just noticed the same thing in the same area of my head tonight. I had a really bad head ache, and was kind of tugging on my hair to make it go away and when i tugged my hair in the area of the bump I got a really sharp pain through my head and neck, and became really dizzy and my head suddenly felt very heavy. After that I felt the area and felt a bump about an inch high and 3 quarters wide. Of course, being human I couldn't stop feeling it after that and every time I touch it I get the same feeling of dizziness and pain.

Knott head
I have a swollen mastoid bone behind my ear that I went to see my pcp about. It didn't hurt but I noticed a small lump coming up on my temple. I have had swollen lymph nodes before so when one popped up on the right side of my neck it didn't concern me so much.. What did worry me is suddenly I started to get really terrible migraines. I would go walking and get very dizzy to the point of me nearly falling over. My pcp said she wasn't concerned about it but ran some blood work anyhow. Came back fine. Put me on some mess for migraines. They subsided for the most part..but the lump on my temple is still there. The mastoid bone is swollen again. And shortly after that I ran my fingers through my hair and felt a lump on the left side of the back of my head. It is painful. I have still been dizzy. But it scares me because my pcp isn't the least bit concerned about it. My mastoid bone, lymph node, the knott on the back of my head and temple have been swelled for approx 8 months now..now Idk what to do!!

Painful Lump on the Back of Head after Lumber Decompression
After having spinal decompression of my lower lumbar spine (following a car accident 7 months ago) I got dizzy and after the procedure. This was on day 2 of 20 visits.. The person doing the procedure had me turn my head to the left during the procedure she also didn't know for sure how much weight she sould use and asked me what weight I thought we should use.. Following the procedure I got a painful lump on the right side of my head. I went to several doctors and to the emergency room.I was told it could be a hair follicle infection or a cyst or a acute lymph node. It's been a week and I feel like my head has been lifted away from my neck and I have lot of pressure in the back and sides of my head following that procedure. I am really worried. I had a Cat Scan of my brain and that was normal..However I think I will need a contrast dye MRI... Prior to this I never had any head or neck issues.

Please does anyone know what this is..I am following up with the neurologist in 2 weeks.

Lump on back of head leeft side!
Same thing here had a sonographic images labeled left posterior scalp area demonstrates a 4.3 x3.5 x3.4 cm well-circumscribed heterogeneous echogenic solid appearing lesiondemonstratingg no significant peripheral or internal vascularity. Finding is indeterminate. CT or MR imaging with I.V. contrast administration may be helpful inn ffurther evaluationorr biopsy for confirmation of the lesion as clinically warranted. And yes it is itchy so twice to the doctor and then to radiology .
SO DO I GET THE BIOPSY IF CANCER IT WOULD SPREAD LEAVE IT ALONE AND JUST PUT UP WITH AT LEAST IT'S NOT ON MY FACE !

Have you started a new medication recently, or using a new shampoo?
If medicaion: Go to the dr. you may be having an allergic reaction to those meds?
If you use alot of hair product: Stop for 3 days and dump some baking soda on your hand with shampoo, then wash your hair twice a day, by the 2nd day I bet your head will feel better.
Let me know what you find out.
