Hi guys!! Im new on here and I have a question. I have been on the depo shot since november 3rd of 2005. A day after my second shot, january 26, I had gotten into a really bad car accident. They gave me antibiotics because I had a bladder infection. I didnt really recognize they gave me antibiotics until shortly after february. Me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex. Dumb, I know. But anyway, soon after that I had begun to get sick, I felt very tired, everything seemed to smell funny. I asked my mom if I could be pregnant, and she said yes. So I took a pregnancy test and it came up negative. Relief?? I think not. I began to gain weight, peeing all the time, got tired allot more, and the nausea got greater. So I took another one, it said negative. I've been to the doctor, they did a pap smear, checked everything, and they said I wasnt pregnant. But something deep down inside is telling me that I am. My tummy is getting bloated, its a little bit tight too... Its april 5th and im still having symptoms. Is depo supposed to give you these side effects or am I pregnant??

I did depo years ago and had horrible side effects. I would say maybe try another hpt and if that is negative, I would chalk it up to the depo. You may also want to do some research on the side effects of depo and make sure that it is really the best birth control for you. I know you are young and probably are not interested in starting a family any time soon but depo can take a year or two to get out of your system when you stop taking it. Which can be really hard when you are trying to have a baby. Just something to think about.

Depo Is Bad For You
I was on depo for four years come to find out it does a lot more than give you those signs of being prego. I also started loosing my hair and got pre cancerous cells in my cervix also gave me ovarian cyst very pain full. So my advice I wouldn't take depo. You will also gain a tone of weight. I know a lot of women who have been on this and same thing happened to them. Also if you are prego and still get the depo you can either miss carry or the baby will have many birth defects. I have been off the depo for seven years and I still have side effects from it. So think carefully about what you want and if you think it is worth it.

Wow,thanks for the info. They don't tell you any of that when you go to get it.All they say is you may experience a lot of bleeding in the first month of having the shot.I just got on it almost a month ago and now that you tell me that I am not going back to get another one. That bull! Omg.So,will it still take up to a year or more for me to get preg even though I was only on it for 3months? Gosh I hope not cause I want to have a kid sometime!

Yes after I was on it I ended up having two miss carries and then just last november I got pregnant and now have a 8mth old little boy. It really messes up your system.

Hey! I started to have the depo june 2005 and had my last one august 2005. Last month I was starting to show pregnancy symptoms, tiredness, nausea, feeling sick and sore breasts. I went to the doctor, for a preggie test but it was negeative, she thought I was preggie because when you stop the depo you can still ovulate without showing a af. But these symtoms carried on untill I had my af on the 24th of march. So sometimes it can be a sign of depo coming out of your system. Hope this is some help to you, like you I was not told all about the effects of depo when I first had it, but I guess I was lucky having my af so soon.
