I started the pill not even a month ago, the dr at planned parenthood said you can go without protection afer 7 days of being on it which I did. I waited 10 days just incase. I got sick from who knows what went to doctor and got on antibiotics I told him that I was on bcp, and he didnt alert me or tel me that they could make the pill noneffective, I did it raw and my partner came in me while I was on the antibiotics but then the cum jus kinda leaked out (lol), and we have done it like that only 3other times. Now I am on orthorotricylin lo. And im at the end. The dark greens, I have 3 more to take, where is my period? Lol im confused. I took a pregnancy test and it said negative but can being on bcp have an affect on pregnancy results.

Someone please help. Thanks lots.

The dr was full of crap. You need to use back-up with bcp's for at least the 1st full month, and it won't be truly fully effective for 3 months total. Antibiotics can definitely affect your bcp's so you should always use back-up the following month.

Sounds like you need to test if you haven't already.

I Took a Test
I took a test it came out negative, can bcp affect the reslts.

This is on the planned parenthood website

starting the pill

your clinician will explain when you should start taking the pill. Taking the pill at the same time each day makes it more effective — pick a time of day that is easy to remember.

If you start the combination pill within five days after the start of your period, take the first active pill of the first pack. You will not need to use a back up method of birth control. You are protected against pregnancy immediately.

If you start the combination pill at any other time during your menstrual cycle, take the first active pill of the first pack. Use another method of birth control if you have vaginal intercourse during the first week of combination pill use — protection will begin after seven days.

This is what they told me protection will begin after 7 days cuz my period had already came and gone when I started. So if they are given false info and I get pregnant them mofos are gettin a wrongful life suit!!! Or wrongful birth suit...Totally forgot which one..So much for health law class. Lol.

Im not to scared but I am..So I joke.

Birth control will not affect home pregnancy test results.

Planned parenthood was telling you the correct thing - 7 days. I'm on ortho lo, I waited just 7 days, and I haven't once gotten pregnant in 10 months. I've never heard of it not being fully effective for the first three months. Your doctor should have told you that .C.E.R.T.A.I.N types of antibiotics affect birth control... Maybe the type you were on wasn't one of them.

If you already tested and it was negative, I highly doubt you're pregnant. But if you're really concerned, call the doc.

I agree with rasu bcp would not affect hpt's maybe the pills are just messing up with your cycle as it could cause hormonal mayhem. I got pregnant when I switch pills. I was on pill for over a year never missed one. But when I suspected I was prego as soon as I took hpt it was a bfp. So I doubt if it affects hpt results hth
