Q: Pain Under Right Ribs

Hi, i'm assuming this question might fit in this section.

I've looked so much around the net for info but there seems to be so many different things it could be.

Basically a week ago on thursday (23rd march) I started noticing a pain under my right ribs. It has been there constantly since, sometimes it seems to to be in different areas up and down the right side of my tummy area but right now it's under my ribs (and mostly seems to be). When I wake up in the morning though it is barely noticeable but it returns within say 1 hour I guess. I also seem to have a pain around my back in the right side about the same level as the pain at the front but it is more spread. I have also noticed my left armpit feels sore but I don't know if this is related.

I have had my dinner about 6pm tonight and it's now by 8pm and I have felt the pain stronger since then. Thinking about it, I have experienced pain after eating before for a small while but I have never experienced a constant pain like I have now.

Trying to get a doctors appointment here to have it checked out but they told me I need to phone every day to see if I can get one - this country (uk's) turning into a right shambles now - dr's appointments were easy to come by a few years ago.

If anyone can suggest what it may be going with my symptons it'd be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, it sounds like it migt be your gallbladder. Does it start after you eat in the am and get worse as the day progresses? It might help to keep a food diary with pain notes to show your Dr. Dr will probably order an ultrasound and hida scan. I just had mine out 2 weeks ago...No stones but hida scan showed it was not functionung properly.

Hi,

it's a constant pain thats there really I have to say. I have noticed the past several nights, that around 1 hour after my dinner at night I can feal the pain more.

I don't seem to get the pain in the morning after eating though but all I usually have is some toast not sure if the quantity of food affects the gallbladder though ?

Did you also have a pain in your back too ?

Oh one last thing, my mum says i'm too young to have gallbladder trouble but i'm not so sure - i'm 20 ? Got a dr appointment next monday though thank god.

I am only 34, I dont think you can be too young...And this can be hereditary. Has anyone else in your family had problems with theirs? Food definately affects how your gallbladder works. The fattier the meal, the more it has to work. Yes, I had pain in my back too. Definately worth checking out with your dr, good luck.
