Seizures( Fits) Posted: 01-05-04 00:00am
Dear everyone.
I am 21 yrs old
female from australia. 3 months ago now I
was upset talking with my partner and I
was on zoloft 100mg at the time. I
suddenly felt weird couldnt speak. Went
stiff and fell backwards into a post ictil
state( stiffness) I had 5 major jerking
episodes which I cantremember but when I
realised what had happened the paramedics
were at my home and I still couldnt talk
right my speach was slurred and I couldnt
walk right either and I was so tired. I
went to hospital and 4 hrs later they
discharged me. All my tests have came
back normal. I went to a neurologist he
said I was normal also. But the test they
do on your brain the (eeg) came back with
severe stress. I was referred to see a
psychologist. I am still seeing the
shrink now. My doctors believe I am
epileptic but b4 the seizure they told me
I had sever anxiety and depression. I am
confused trying to cope. Latley I have
been feeling weird I am on epileptic
medication and this is slowing down my
seizures because I was having up to 8 big
seizures a day. I cant work or drive. I
am so confused. I stopped taking my
zoloft because it was making me feel
strange and I believe that the zoloft
caused all this for me. When I was on the
zoloft I was only on it for 2 weeks and it
made me feel so weird in the head I
couldnt cry or show any emotion and it
also made me feel as if I had to vomit.
I wonder does anyone else have seizures
.
Ty bye

Sami,
i'm in sydney & if you are too I know
of an absolutely amzing fantastic wondrous
psychiatrist (i'm understating how good he
is!!, seriously).
My daughter (15) was wrongly diagnosed
with anorexia nervosa & almost went
insane as a result of the drs at westmead,
then I found this incredible man & she
was saved (literally). Her eeh also came
back showing severe stress & he
believes it was also bought on by
medication!!
His "cure" is so simple & it's worked
within a couple of months, is as follows.
Take a 30 to 60 minute gentle walk between
6 & 7 am (at this time there's
something in the sunsrays - even if
overcast - that works on the chemicals of
the brain to help reduce stress) also you
might be like my daughter & need to
drink 750mls of perrier water a day to get
the sodium & potassium levels back to
normal, if these are out by even a little
it can be serious & they get out when
we lose salt (through sweating)last but
not least my daughter's body, because of
the stress had stopped converting
tryptophan to 5htp so she's on a
supplement of 50mg p.D at night of 5htp
(you need a presciption for this) but
tryptophan basically works on the
serotonin levels in the brain to reduce
stress, it occurs naturally in all sorts
of things, pumpkin seeds, natural yoghurt,
cottage cheese, many nuts, bananas, turkey
etc etc, but if you're overstressed the
body can't convert it to 5htp which is
what normally happens.
A shrink is a psychiatrist (dr & he
can write prescriptions) a psychologist
isn't a dr & can't write scripts. But
maybe you should get another opinion. If
you have (if not you can get it under
freedom of information legislation) your
eeg pictures showing (well I don't know if
all machines use the same colours - but my
daughter's showed the right side of her
brain bright red & the left side plain
white) the colours of the left & right
sides of the brain, take them to another
psychiatrist or dr you trust or email me,
even if you're not in sydney, maybe the dr
here can suggest someone near you.
It doesn't sound as if what's being done
is really helping you. My daughter had
reached a point in westmead hospital where
I thought she would either kill herself or
the drs, within days (literally) of
changing hospitals & dr you could see
her healing. She's now home & will be
starting university march 1st (yes, she's
15).

burnt really quick because of my

You say that ppl tell you to give give
give? What do you &/or they mean give
what?
It seems like you need to be give (as in
helped) to not be asked to give.
I sincerely pray that your brain surgery
goes completely aok & that it makes
the best possible difference.
Post or pm me if you want to talk.
I'm sorry if you thought I was being
difficult in suggesting the possibility of
an altrnative to epilepsy, but I worl on
the basis that people are sometimes
wrongly diagnosed & others need to
know this, especially if they're seeking
help/advice, so that maybe they can search
further for answers.

Dear purple,\
I have decided to not go
ahead with the brain surgery its to
frightening for me to think about.
I have only had this thing for 3 months
and well I have had my meds doseage
changed and well you see its kinda
helping. Just that when I do get sad
really sad to the point of uncontrolled
crying a seizure kicks in I cant do
anything about it and I am so frightened.
Sometimes when I am happy a seizure kicks
in from no where and I am frightened
because once again I have no idea what is
happening to me. Then sometimes I just
have seizures because of the sun being to
bright or a light or a flicker of the
television. Like lastnight I was cooking
dinner here at home and I burnt the entire
thing. I cant remember how that could
have happened I am a great cook. All I
can think of is that I must have had a
seizure.
We can talk I would like that. I dont
have the support from my mother she doesnt
want to have anything really to do with me
and my father he also lives so far away my
parents are divorced and live in different
areas of australia. I am gay and I live
with my partner here in sydney. Life is
good but its hard being an epileptic.

I sent you a private message - I hope you
got it!!?? Hope too that you are ok &
that the new meds are maybe helping even
more?? In the meantime, this may sound
corny but smile, it will make you feel
better & those around you too, it also
actually releases chemicals in your brain
to help you feel better!! :d

i am scared to death!!! Posted: 02-09-08 08:36am
i have had to stress seizures in the past
few days, and have never had one in my
life!!! i am on medication for it, but it
hasn't stopped the bad headaches, the
nauseau, and the confusion within my
brain. no one seems to understand what i
am going through. they keep saying, go to
the doctor. when in reality, i need them
to back off and not put so much stress on
me. so far, i have only had two, and maybe
i won't have them again. but i need some
feed back from someone who is going
through the same thing that i am. hit me
up when you get a chance.

Seziures Posted: 02-25-08 13:42pm
I have had epilepsy since I was 16, took
them almost 2 months to finnally catch one
on an EEG. I still have seziures once and
a great while now, but once i have one(i
dont black out) i feel tired with slurred
speech etc but im fine after its over.
I have problems with stress and never
handled it well. I told my neurologist
about it and he states that stress cant
cause epilepsy which i find a load of
crap. So to answer your questions yes, i
have seziures sometimes very infrequently
when I am stressed out.
