Is This Anxiety Or Something Else?
Posted: 04-03-06 01:35am

I had something wierd happen to me tonight. This may sound odd but it happens when I was playing an online game, counter strike.. And I don't know what happened.. I got so into it and I was trying to make my team win every time, and I was doing great.. But then I started feeling.. I guess anxiety in my chest.

Thats the best way I can think to describe it. It wasn't pressure or tightness, it felt almost like a pain though.. And I was really gettin stressed and I don't know why. This usually doesn't happen to me.

But that isn't the part that bugs me. I had to stop playing because at the same time this was going on, my arms started to feel a little wierd. Like any time I bended my arm a little, I felt this.. Tingling feeling around my pinky and ring finger, goin down just slightly past my elbows. I have a feeling this is a nerve I was feeling, and I know that I keep my arms bent too much a day, especially because i'm behind a computer often.

Well I checked my blood pressure and it was normal, but my pulse was a little high(90). Anyways the biggest thing that bugs me is that it wasn't just one arm that was having this problem, it was both of them.

So this wierd feeling on my nerve area lasted for about 10 minutes before it mostly went away.. I couldn't barely feel it after that, and in about 30 minutes it was completely gone altogether.

During the time this was going on I felt extremely nervous and restless, and slightly lightheaded.. I didn't even want to sit down. I am not doubting that this could be anxiety, my dad has had anxiety attacks a lot in the past. I'm 23 now, not in very good shape.. Overweight but not obese.. But could this arm problem have come from just me having what I can only guess is a panic attack?

Firstly by what you have described is important to go the the doctors first before any thing else because your health is important .It may be panic and anxiety because you mentioned your dad has anxiety attacks which therefore
runs in the familey. What you are explaining is muscle tightening which means you are tense.Panic and anxiety is a stress related problem and can do a lot of things to your body. Please do not be alarmed basicly what I mean is anxiety and panic gives you a lot of body symptoms and therefore it is time to try relax more and learning how to relax. If you go to the doctors and everything is fine then ask your doctor about anxiety and stress and ways to relieve it like meditation and relaxation...
