Q: What can I do about skin irritation and bumps on the torso?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 2nd, 2006
1. Have been bothered by itchy mole like patch on mid-back, light brown, dry, scaly, rough, slightly tender, stings when itched. About the size of pencil eraser, appears to have red border on about 1/3 of edge. Had similar patch about 3 years ago about six inches below this one. Didn't realize what I was scratching at the time. Was irritated and I created a rather large, very thick scab which I accidentally scratched off, was surprised at the hole left behind, but it healed and now have very slight scar. What are your thoughts?
2. Some time ago, noticed a small lump/bump under skin on mid trunk, there was no mark on skin. Over time the skin began to change and the lump is now slightly raised. The bump is hard/solid and the skin is smooth, and a light reddish/brown.

You can visit a plastic surgeon to remove the skin tumors you describe on your torso. After removal, a pathologist should examine the tumors to analyse if they are malignant (cancerous) or benign (non-cancerous).
