You know, I would advise you at least call your doctor and maybe talk to the nurse just to be safe. If there is a reason you are bleeding, they should know. It isn't 'whining'.

Hi, I'm scared because it's been almost 4 weeks after my hysterectomy, and posterior and anterior vaginal wall repairs.
I bled for about 3 weeks after surgery, but only slightly.
Then the bleeding stopped for almost a week.
But since yesterday night, 24 hours ago, the bleeding started again and is quite heavy- heavier than it has been so far.

I rang my doctor today and he said that if it doesn't stop I may have to take antibiotics and if it gets worse during the weekend I have to go to hospital. These things always happen just before the weekend!
I am scared that I have a tear somewhere, I have dullish pain as well.

I hope I don't need surgery again- is there anyone who can tell me a similar story or who can pacify me?

post hysterectomy bleeding
I had a hysterectomy on December 3,2008. Came home and was vomiting for two days and I have had bleeding. I called my Doctor and was told everything is normal, but I want to know where the bleeding is comimg from. It has been 19 day's and I'm still bleeding and I'm tired of being told nothing is wrong. I was under the impression that I wouldn't bleed anymore and feel that my doctor is dismissing my concerns. I've read about a lot of woman who has had this problem, but does anyone have any good news that this will go way?

Thanks,

post hysterectomy bleeding
ph,
My prolonged bleeding (for 5 weeks after the hysterectomy) was due to an infection!
Suggest this to your doctor.
I was given penicillin and after 4 days the bleeding stopped and has never returned.
Infection can keep the wound from healing.
I wish you all the best.

I think this was one of the most shocking things that I faced after my Hysterectomy...I expected the bleeding would be done...That is what I was there for...It sure shocked me....I think a lot of what is happening with you may have something to do with how active you are...Also how sexual have you been...For me there was quite a bit of pain and I had to wear a pad for a while...

I really think it is pretty normal especially if they have done work around the cervix....If it causes you concern, I sure would check on it.....

Best wishes,
Caroline

Bleeding after a hysterectomy
Everybody ask your OBGYN about catarization. I had a hysteectomy almost a year ago. For 6 months I bleed every month a the same time like I was still having a cycle. My primary care provider said the bleeding should have stopped all together. She sent me back to the OBGYN, and he told me sometimes tissue is accidentally left behind. Which still make you have the monthly symptoms. So he went in like they would when they do a pap. And he burned the area where the scar tissue is.And IT WORKED no more monthly cramps and no more monthly spotting. I feel better, you can also look this up on the net and it will tell you more. Alot of surgens use this method after they cut on people, this stops bleeding.
I hope this helps everyone.

Bleeding after hysterectomy
I am 44 and I am going into my 3rd week of recovery the last couple of days my lower back has been aching and it bothers me to stand at first. I have been lightly spotting a pinkish discharge. I have not called the dr yet, I am going to tomorrow. I read a few other blogs and they seem to be worse than me, but each person is different.

I was told by my someone who is in the Nursing field, that the reason for the sore back is from the way that you are turned during the surgery....I am not sure if you had a complete rebuilding, but I did.....I still pay the price on the nerves in my upper legs.....

It is possible that when the procedure was done that a small piece of the uterus tissue was left behind...If you had a vaginal hysterectomy, which leaves your cervix intact, this is more prone to happen....It could and probably is the bleeding of this small piece of tissue that is causing this......He will probably just do the simple procedure of cauterizing this small area to fix this problem...It is painless so not to worry....

Take care,
Caroline

bleeding ater a hysterectomy
I am 40 years old and had a hysterectomy Feb. 24th 2009. I had my uterus and cervix removed because of a large fibroid. I spotted some after the surgery and then about 2 weeks after I started bleeding a little more, but not real heavy. I called and talked to my doctor's nurse and she said that this is normal to have bleeding, caused by new tissue that is forming inside and will cause bleeding. She said that as long as it is not heavy bleeding it's normal for about 2 to 8 weeks. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best.

Bleeding after 3 years of Hysterectomy
Hi,
My mother too underwent this surgery (utreus removal) and after 3yrs she has started getting this bleeding at regular periods sometime it lasts upto 4-5 days or sometimes a lil more. She is 62yrs and had menopause long back when she was 39yrs. Not sure whats this bleeding when there isnt any utreus Sad. Any idea what could be the reason?
Consulted the doc and she said its normal and she also suggested to keep her BP under control that could also aggravate it.

Thanks
Charu

I would hope she contracted an OB-GYN on this or at least called one...This could sound a bit suspect...

Just my thoughts,
Caroline

Even the doc said nothing to worry but I dont understand the reason behind this unpredictable bleeding Sad . She gets really upset and does want to go out n vacations cos of al this.
Do u have an idea? Are there any other tests to be done??
Thanks

Hi Charu: Is she seeing an OB-GYN specialist or just a doctor?...On all the doctor reports on the above posts they show where this is not normal..I can only say what I read on sites and find this hard to believe...This does concern me...but I am not an expert...

Yes Caroline, she consulted a Gynae and even Oncologists. Got her CA-125, ultrasound, Other blood tests done but all are negative. Not sure what of the reason yet Sad
But what do u suggest further?? This all started last August 2008 and is on-off since then, let me know if any further info would help investigating this. Thanks!

The only thing I could think of would be Endometriosis forming again inside, but I would think the doctors would be able to find this...Fortunately, she has wonderful doctors...I have read that if someone retains their cervix that this does sometimes happen...Thankfully all her tests are negative and she is in great hands...Hopefully this will stop just as it started....Thanks and stay in touch...

Oh Ok!! Is Endometriosis very harmful thing? What are the tests done to check if this is the problem? She is planning to visit her gynae in a day or two again, can check on this as well.
Just one more thing, she has this growth since 2 years which is non-cancerous and infact the size has reduced too. Could that be a reason as well?
Thanks a ton for thsi insight Caroline.
Would be glad to stay in touch
