How Should Your Bump Feel And Behave?
Posted: 03-30-06 05:58am

I'd like to know how a pregnant stomach is supposed to feel? I have been denying that I might be pregnant for some time now, but i've suddenly noticed my normally flat stomach is protruding quite dramatically and I have but on weight on breasts and buttocks despite eating no more than my usual (very healthy) diet.
And I want to know whether my waist should look thicker? (it does), also, it's not solid, I thought my belly should be solid, but its just rather firm, not flabby-soft however, perhaps I have put on a layer of fat as my belly button has gotten deeper (when i'm lying down, when I stand up it almost seems to stick out a bit). I wondered if i've just developed a bad case of bloating!
Also, when I bend over it feels looser and when I lie down on my back my belly isn't that obvious at all, it all moves into the centre - I thought in pregnancy the bump didn't change at all depending on the mothers position? (when I lie on my side it is obvious, but moves aside as you would expect of loose tissue). Is it still possible to suck it in a bit? (when I do this is tend to get a really bad back ache, but it is possible, lthough the protruding somtach doesn't flatten as it would have normally)
basically, how should a pregnant belly feel and behave?
If I am far along, I could be much further than I suspect, simply because I am very athletic and I have very strong abs.
I suppose the only answer at this stage is a blood test, as i'm probably too far along for a urine test, and in any case, my family has a history of not showing up on them, yes, this is not a lie, weird as it sounds. Doctors think we're all incompetant, lol.

You're never too far along for a home pregnancy test aka urine test as long as you haven't delivered yet.
