I have been using nuvaring for a few months now, and, while I do love it, my fiance says it is uncomfortable and even painful during sex. So, before I move to be with him (we are currently 3,000 miles apart), I am going to switch back to birth control pills.
I know nuvaring has a low dose of estrogen. I have taken ortho tricyclen, nordette, and desogen in the past. I didn't have problems with them (like weight gain or anything), but after one year on each of those brands, I had frequent breakthrough bleeding. A switch to another brand of pill fixed that.
My question is, does anyone know the difference between the low dose pills, or the differences of hormones? What are the pros and cons of low dose pills and the different kinds of hormones? Maybe you know of a website that clearly explains this?
While taking nuvaring, I have had no bloating or cramps - can this be because of the low dose of estrogen?
