Liver Problems With Effexorxp And/or Lamotrigne Posted: 03-27-06 22:18pm
Hi,
i've been taking effexor xp for 4 years
(orginally diagnosed with depression only)
and lamotrigne for the past 9 months.
I'm experiencing problems with my liver
(enlarged, high blood levels) and i'm
wonder in if anyone else has experience
liver problems from either of these
drugs.

I took effexor (sp?) for about a year and
my blood pressure sky rocketed, even
though it's not a common side effect.
I've always had excellent blood pressure.
Well, the day I stopped taking effexor my
blood pressure started to drop to normal
levels again.
So, it doesn't surprise me in the least
that the meds have done this to your
health, etc. Have you tried other
ssri's?

I've tried several other ssn's, but
effexor works the best for me (especially
in low dosages).
Right now i'm on 37.5 mg/day, but over the
past four years have been anywhere from
37.5 mg to 200 mg/day.
I'm not sure if this is a long-term side
effect of the effexor, or a side-effect
caused my my mood-stabilizer lamotrigne
(lamactal?). I've only been on
lamotrigne since july/05, but was warned
it may cause all sorts of problems (but
the main concern was rashes).
Thanks for your reply... Isn't it
interesting what dangerous side-effects
aren't made available for public
viewing?
