Coverage After You're Laid Off
Posted: 03-27-06 16:28pm

Is it required by law that all illinois employers continue health coverage for 30 days after leaving the job??

I was laid-off on 9-22-05. My wife saw the doctor on 9-26-05.

The insurance company states no coverage and will not pay.

Thanks.

you should have been able to elect cobra and have your employers coverage for 18 months. Do you remember anything about that?

yes, but I thought you were automatically covered for 30 days after employment without cobra
