Condom Ripped While On the Pill
Posted: 03-27-06 13:09pm

I've been on birth control for a week now and my boyfriend and I have still been having sex. This morning the condom ripped...I'm not sure if any of his sperm got inside me but I was curious what to do. Should I take an emergency kit? Will that mess up with my birth control?

Im not 100% sure but I think that if you have been taking the pill at the right time each day, then you are covered by the pill, I think theres only a 2% chance of the pill failing. Sorry if its not very usefull

Thanks...Can anyone give me a bit more on the subject though? I've been taking the pill every day at the same time...With the exception of the other day when I took it 30 minutes late...

Should I stop having sex till my first month is done?

Is it healthy and safe if I took an emergency contrecption pill?

Is the chances greater since the condom broke and I have only been taking birthcontrol for a week?

What is Plan B?
* Plan B is an emergency method of contraception which contains a hormone called progestin.SmileSmileSmile Generally, women who can safely take the birth control pill may use Plan B SmileSmileSmile. Plan B must be prescribed by a health professional.

* To prevent pregnancy, Plan B must be started within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse has occurred. Plan B can be used if:
o a condom broke or slipped
o you used withdrawal or no contraception at all
o you missed some birth control pills and didn't use a condom
o you were late getting your Depo injection
o your diaphragm slipped
o you were sexually assaulted

Hey!

Read your instrcution booklet to be sure about this but:

If you started your pack on the first day of your period then you would most definetly be protected.

If you didnt, but have taken all your pills correctly for 7 days then you should also be protected.

(Someone quickly correct me if i'm wrong.)

Is there a clinic/nurse service you can call to ask?

The answer really will be in your instruction booklet. Mine suggests that as long as you have taken it for 7 days its fine. If you've been taking it for less then that then i'd definitely use emergency contraception.

Some doctors will say to wait two weeks after starting bc just to be on the safe side, but you are technically protected after only one week. So if you took your pill everyday (taking it 30 minutes late does not matter), then you are protected and have nothing to worry about. Emergency contraception should not decrease the effectiveness of the birth control, but it really isn't necessary either

If you've taken 7 pills, you have nothing to worry about.
