I don't know about it being legal to have them done if that's what you're asking as I live in the uk, but no-one can force you to have anything done which you don't want to. You have to consent to it.

The feck is a virginity check? Is that when they see if your hymen's still intact? Because the hymen breaking can come from a million other things than having sex- riding a bike, using tampons, etc. In short, it's useless.

I have no idea, really.
Just curious: are you against it because of general principle (i.E. You're a virgin and hate that your mom doesn't trust you), or have you been having sex and just don't want her to know?
Believe it or not, parents aren't completely clueless. And if you're worried about her knowing you have sex, it might just be easier to tell her. Legality/morality of a virginity check aside, if you tell her she can at least help you get on birth control or whatever.

Re
Uhhhh I have never heard of anyone going to get that done or heard it mentioned in gynecologist practices. I mean like when you look at an advertisemetn for gyns I don't see "virginity checks" under 'services we offer'
lol
plus, I dont think a doctor would be allowed to tell your mom anyways cause of doctor/patient privacy... Like even if you go to a gyn and find out your pregnant he cant tell your mom without your permission... So no I dont think it'd be legal.. And plus any gyn would know there are many things that could make your hyman rip

your mom is trying to scare you and second I know what your talking about, how old are you?? Down here over the age of 16 they dont have to reveal any info to your parents at all and like someone else said you can loose your hymen from almost anything!!

There is really no way to tell if you are a virgin or not! The hymen can break or tear from a variety of different things. Ask any doctor...They will tell you the same.

I'm not to sure that they don't. Many women, lets say of arab descent, who live in the .U.S are forced by there parents to go to the gyno or .E.R to be checked for breakage of the hymen.
But like the other poster said, if you as much as use a tampon, there goes your hymen. Or ride a bike, or just being active in general could cause it to break!

Yes, if she does make you go to an ob gyn... Just secretly call ahead of time and speak with soemone about patient confidentiality. But I suspect as I work for planned parenthood that she is trying to trick you into saying something, or she wnats to give you an std test.. Etc.. They can tell if your hymen is broken, but lets face it, mine broke from dance class and gymnastics.
Virginity checks in other countires tell if the hymen is broken , that' s all....Which is pretty sorry because many women are beheaded and killed because they have no hymen, when anyhting can cause it to break.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless your mother is actually that weird to have you checked out. I don't think that your doctor can actually tell your mum about it if you ask him not too. You should be having your yearly check anyway if you are sexualy active. Just call ahead and talk to the staff to see what their policy is on stuff like that.
I know that my doctor didnt' tell my mum when I went there to get checked out, I had told him that I didn't want my mom knowing that I had been raped and that I wasn't a ".V." anymore. He never said anything. I knwo that the .H.I.P.P.A laws prevent them saying anything to your 'rents' about anything unless you sign the waver. Just talk to the doctor and express your concerns to him.

You need to tell your mom to take a few deep breaths and calm down. I don't think she's serious, and anyway, virginity checks don't do anything! As about fifteen people already said, your hymen can break from anything.

You could be honest with her about it, tell her you're having sex but being responsible about it and using some form of birth control...Which hopefully you are. Even if you're under the legal age to be having sex, im sure she'd appreciate your honesty. She knows she cant stop you, but knowing you're being safe about it will help.

It would be a breach of patient-doctor confidentiality. Your mom could take you to the doctor and pay for the appointment but the doctor is not legally allowed to tell your mom a damn thing.
