Tanning Bed While Prego?

This is such a contraversial issue. I want to know if it really can harm your unborn child. I realize that ultraviolet lights are used in tanning beds. What are some opinions any of you have? Thanks, ks

Well, I know ultraviolet rays aren't good for anyone, so I doubt they'd be good to use while pregnant. I don't know any facts on the subject though, just what I think.

No, no no... Most good tanning places will not even let a preggo go in.

Actually, in .New .Orleans after your 1st timester you can go tanning. Not every day, but once every 2 weeks isn't going to harm your baby. As coloring your hair doesn't either.

Personally, I suggest staying away from tanning beds period. The sun's reys aren't healthy at all for you so imagine how bad ultra violet rays in .E.X.C.E.S.S are. If you want to look youthful until you're 50's, I suggest staying away from the sun and tanning beds. I'm not saying be as pale as a ghost all year round, but at least wear spf of minimum 15 when you go in the sun.

I personally wouldn't do it, it isn't healthy for anyone, esp. A pregnant woman! I don't know for sure though, ask your doc

Hey hun. I was wondernig about tanning too cuz I am usually extremyl dark in the summer from tanning beds cuz I wont tan in the sun. And im prego and not sure either, my doc. Said no becuz he's totally against the whole thing . He said why we tan in ithose beds is becuz our skin is forming like a callose to protect us, like when he cut ourselves kinda thing if that makes sense, and that's why we tan. So I dno im debating too cuz itanned like almost every day the whole last summer, so im not sure what to do and if its a slim chance of harming my baby I wont even think about it. Just dno cuz my doc doesnt really wana talk about it I guess cuz he's against the whle thing in general :s

 .No tanning doesn't help stretch marks. Tanning actually technically damages your skin, destroying the oils that keep your skin supple and stretchy. The only thing that can help with stretch marks is to keep your skin moisturized as the belly gets bigger, and drink a lot of water. If you get stretch marks, the best "treatment" afterwards would be laser treatments since that's the only thing that can eliminate them.

I would avoid tanning beds while pregnant, 100%. They're no safer than laying out in the sun. At least being outside with some sunscreen still gets some of the health benefits of the sun into you.

I am from florida too and I love my tan, I also love the beach and the pool. But I don't think that a tanning bed is very good for the baby. But I haven't a clue. I get my nails done and everyone has a different opionion about that. But the place that I go to keeps the doors open and it's well ventalated.

But I would think that tanning would be a little worse...But I don't know. I got a cute little bathing suit from target it's got little charries on it and I go out in the sun....But not all day like I used to when I was younger. Maybe you should just stick to the sun for a little while.

On another note*******anyone seen final destination 3?????? I dont' think that I would tan after that anyway.
