I am a 30-year-old female recently
diagnosed with colitis. No specific kind,
just colitis. The surgeon who performed
my colonoscopy wasn't sure what kind so he
referred me to a gastroenterologist.
After 4 weeks of diarrhea, fever, stomach
cramps and pain, I am back to square one.
My stool tests came back normal when
tested for everything under the sun,
including clostridium difficile, which is
what I am being treated for. I had gone
through 3 rounds of antibiotics prior to
the diarrhea.
Anybody ever experience any of this? I am
frustrated and confused and would love to
know what the hell is going on here. I
have lost 15 pounds and I am not a large
person to begin with!
Finally, over the last couple of days, I
have regained my appetite and strength,
the weight is coming back on, and I am
back to working. My gastroenterologist
says all we can do now is wait it out and
if it flares up again, he'll do another
colonoscopy himself right away. Btw, that
really really hurt! I had never heard of
a painful colonoscopy until mine.
Please, I need support from anyone out
there who has been through this.
Thanks, guys.
