Q: 17 Months Postpartum - Extreme Weight Loss, Symptoms..

Hey - i'm new here. Thought i'd ask some questions.

My son is 17 months old now. Since I had him, i've had extreme weight loss, hair breaking off, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, and others.

I was diagnosed with ibs, got a second opinion, and the Dr. Found h pylori gastritis.

After a year of having persistent and even more symptoms, I went to see a gi. Had a colonoscopy - everything fine. Had an endoscopy - everything fine, only found the h pylori gastritis.

Tested negative for celiac disease.

My gi is mostly concerned with the weight loss, it doesn't matter how much or what I eat, I don't gain any weight. This isn't typical of me. Although i've never been *large*, my weight has always fluctuated.

I'm 25, and smaller now than I was in 7th grade.

My parents are worried, my husband, my coworkers, and my friends. I'm sick of going to the Dr., and sick of everyone saying something's wrong with me.

We've also been under a lot of stress, and I don't know if this might be attributing to things.

Has anyone been through anything like this? Any advice?

Welcome to the boards. I am not a doctor so I really can't answer your question. But I was wondering if your doctor has you on anything to help stablize the weight or suggested you change your diet?

I know with a little one in the house its hard to get a good nights sleep plus they keep you sooo busy. (boy do I remember those days!!!) maybe it is a combination of stress, your diet and activity level. Even happy events like having a baby can be stressful, we just don't mind that kind of stress as much as the stress thats caused because of negative things.

You might try writing about this over on the post pregancy forum and see if other new moms have experienced similar symptoms.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.

Thanks so much for your response. I agree - happy stress is still stress, never really thought about it that way!

My doc hasn't said much about my diet. I eat healthy, and I eat about 5 small meals a day.
