Q: 17 Months Postpartum - Extreme Weight Loss, Symptoms..

Hey - i'm new here. Thought i'd ask some questions.

My son is 17 months old now. Since I had him, i've had extreme weight loss, hair breaking off, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, and others.

I was diagnosed with ibs, got a second opinion, and the Dr. Found h pylori gastritis.

After a year of having persistent and even more symptoms, I went to see a gi. Had a colonoscopy - everything fine. Had an endoscopy - everything fine, only found the h pylori gastritis.

Tested negative for celiac disease.

My gi is mostly concerned with the weight loss, it doesn't matter how much or what I eat, I don't gain any weight. This isn't typical of me. Although i've never been *large*, my weight has always fluctuated.

I'm 25, and smaller now than I was in 7th grade.

My parents are worried, my husband, my coworkers, and my friends. I'm sick of going to the Dr., and sick of everyone saying something's wrong with me.

We've also been under a lot of stress, and I don't know if this might be attributing to things.

Has anyone been through anything like this? Any advice?

Being under a lot of stress can cause you to loose a lot of weight, have you talked to your dr about the stress you are under, I amno dr, but if the dr feels as though he has run all of the tests neccasarily including mono, he might run a stress test on you and their are a lot of support groups that might be able to help you along with going to a store like gnc as they have a instant drink that is healthy and can put some weight back on you.
Good luck.

Thanks for your response.

To answer your question - no, my doc hasn't ran any type of stress test on me. We're still working on things though. I have talked to him about the stress we've been under, and I am also on lexapro for anxiety.

I can't offer much help, but i'm curious - are you breastfeeding your son? If you are, that could contribute to your weight loss. Don't take no for an answer from your doctors. I'm glad you sought a second opinion - try for a third. Good luck.

Hey! No, i'm no longer breastfeeding. I stopped when he was 4 months old when it was getting to be too much trouble keeping up with pumping while at work (that was over a year ago). That is what I first contributed to the weight loss, but it's stayed off. I even stopped exercising to try to put on weight, lol but I need to start that up again b/c now i'm skinny, but flabby, lol. :)
