Q: Is It Molluscum?

Ok, well this all started a few months ago. I started noticing pimple-like lesions around my pubic area and inner thigh, but not inside my vagina. These bumps somewhat resemble whiteheads with a pearly white center. My boyfriend has this as well but the bumps are only directly below his belly button and he only has a few, as mine are quite severe. Some of the bumps that we both have are hard, almost cyst-like underneath the skin. I was concerned, so I went to the health center at my school and they told me it was not an std, but it was molluscum (but in some of the readings that i've found, it says that molluscum is an std). The nurse practitioner that I saw prescribed me retin-a, which I have been using, but apparently I have been using too much, which left my skin feeling irritated, itchy, and extremely painful in the pubic area. Concerned from that, I saw my gynecologist and he told me that it does not look like molluscum to him (i think that is because he was paying more attention to the raw & irritated skin rather than the pimple-like bumps), and he told me to use hydrocortizone cream...Which I was outraged about, being that I was expecting him to prescribe me something that would relieve me. Anyway...Does anyone know if this is molluscum or are there any ideas of what it could be? Thanks
