I know what you mean I was 18 when I had my first baby and gave up smoking when I was about 4months pregnant, after I had him, he was about a month old when I started again, I didnt plan too but I was on my own and the father of my child was causing alot of trouble, those who never smoked wont understand this but I went back to smoking to ease the stress, I carried on smoking, and 2yrs later found out I was carrying baby no2, by now I was smoking alot more so I cut down but never gave up, in my case this was a big mistake my son now has a very weak chest, when ever he gets a cold he gets a chest infection and has to have inhalers. My partner has asthma so I should have probably thought about it alot more but its very hard! For those who think I am irresponsible, I know I have myself to blame.

On a happier note I am ttc for baby no3 and after nearly 10yrs (i started at 14)i have given up! I havent had a cigarette for 7 weeks!

Damita there will always be people who give you a hard time for smoking while pregnant, just be strong and I wish you the best of luck, it is real hard at first but hang in there it does get easier!

Thank you! Been trying to give up for months but I just couldnt do it, then I got a bad case of flu. Every time I thought about smoking I wanted to throw up and that thought has just stayed with me! Being ill was a really good thing to happen to me! :)

I smoked when I was 13 because my friends did and I wanted to fit in and life sucked so it was like no 'real' reason to stop me so hell why not. Later it was cos boyfriends smoked too. I stopped when I found out I was pregnant because seriously if your baby means as much to you as it should you put that babies health first before your own selfish wants. Do you want to feel guilty if your baby is born sick? All you have to think really is, do you want this baby that you love so much, to be ill when he/she is born or not? Its only 9 months, come on.

Too true. I can't even stand the smell of cigarette smoke anymore, whereas it used to be my security blanket. :)
