In september I had an ultrasound that
detected gallstones, but per
gastroenterologist, nothing earth
shattering. I was also diagnosed, per an
endoscopy with a small hiatal hernia,
reflux and gastritis, for which I was
prescribed nexium. I changed my diet to
reflect very low fat, and to stay away
from all the no-no's.
Last night, I got an attack, that lasted 5
hours! I believe it was a gallbladder
attack. Called my gastroenterologist
today and he has ordered another
ultrasound of the gallbladder and a
hepatobilary (gallbladder) w/cck. I have
read up on this and am frightened that it
is going to be very painful.
Anyone ever have it done that can lend
some information?

Are you talking about the hida scan I just
had 1 done 2 weeks ago but they didn't
give me the ckk for some reason. But
people say that when they inject the ckk
that it can cause nausia and make the
gallbladdder have a attack as the ckk acts
as a fatty meal. But the hida without
that injection is painless. I hope that
was of some help to you charleen

thanks so much for your reply. I decided
to get a second opinion and not get the
hida scan with cck injection, as I have
been informed that the test can actually
cause a stone to lodge in the duct and
necessitate emergency surgery.
Did your Dr. Find indication by your hida
scan alone that you have gallstones, and
if so, what is the plan for you?
Surgery?
