I just wanted to know if anyone has tried the patch. I had a miscarriage and dont want to get pregnant anytime soon so I was curious about the patch. I was on depo for awhile but im really not interested in getting back on that so I just wanted advice on what birth control would be helpful for right now because I want children just no right now.

Hi there,
since not many people seems to have tried the patch, I thought i'd share my experience w/you.

I was also on the depo for several years.

Pro: no period when my body got used to it, weight loss only b/c I was toooo depressed to eat.

Con: crazy mood swings, unpredictable bleeding and spotting that lasted for days

i wanted to try something different b/c I really wanted to see if it was depo that causing me to be soo depressed and
i have also heard it was hard to conceive in the future while on depo so I switched to the patch... About 4 months now. It's easy to use, just be careful when sticking it, make sure your skin is clean.

At first, I was totally not used to this method, I experienced all the side
effects to the worst degree of it:

con: sharp stomach pains, blurry contacts lens, breast tenderness (it hurted alot), etc.

Pro: well, my breasts got bigger. My period comes regularly on time.

I dont experience most of the side effects anymore. I think I just got used to it. I am still sometimes moody.

I suggest that if you are not a pill taker, the patch may be a good choice.
It really plays w/your hormones alot. I think it's the eccess estrogen in
your body. I feel that it is quite different from the depo shot.

Give it a try, get a months prescription, if you don't like it, try something else. Every body is different, you'd never know until you try. Good luck.

Extremely eHealthy
Hey chrystal.

Everything is going to have some kinda side affect no matter what. I was on the patch for a while and it wasnt too bad. Some nausea and headaches but thats about it. No pregnancy. The reason you get those things is because your body "feels pregnant" therfore preventing it from happening. So you get "symptoms" the patch is pretty easy though. So try it or ask your doc which is best for u.

Hey..Im on the patch now..Um yea everytime I have sex my body thinks its pregnant so I get a lot of the symptoms..But I guess you get that with everything...The only real bad thing about the patch is that I have a migrane headache everyday..It never goes away..At one point I was taking at least 6 advil a day and it still didnt go away..Im going to get an mri in a couple weeks to see if it could be something else rather than the patch but I think the patch is whats causing my headaches...Another thing is that you really need to stick to your schedule..Becaus every now and again ill forget and ill have to change my patch change day...One good thing is that before my periods were never every 28 days..Always on different days..But the patch them completely regular..I even have it down to the hour ill get my period which is crazy..I hope this helps and I hope everything goes well... Jenn
