Can anybody help.

I have experienced funny sensations in my chest for a number of years now, it feels like my heart has stopped and I get a feeling of my heart jumping up and down, like I am holding my breath but I am not. I do not have any other symptoms at the time. I am not aware that it is my heart and I do not have palpatations that feel like my heart is beating fast. I have noticed that I get one or two before my period. I do not have them on a regular basis but when I do they are quiet strong and last a few seconds. I am 42 and have regular periods.

I have had numerous ecg's and blood tests which show nothing.

It is really getting me down.

I too have suffered with palpatations. I have had them about 6 years now. My grandad died from heart problems as did my grandma. Iwhat happens is it feeels like my heart misses a beat or adds an extra one. Then it taks my breath and I go ight headed. Been to docs a few times and they have done a ecg but it showed nothing up. Also sods law I didnt have one while it was on . Im so scared when im alone with the kids incase this is it, the big one. I dont smoke or drink and only ahve one pot of coffee a day. Some days I can have 6 or 7 attacks in a day. Other days only the 1.

Hi donna

thanks for the reply, I did go to my doctors again and really had a good chat with her about this. I am a little more reassured, apparently some people can have up to 200 of these a day and it still not be classed as heart problems. As you go lightheaded (which I don't) I suggest you speak to your doctor again and have a monitor on for a few days. I know what you mean as I have a young daughter and the amount of times I have been to a&e is stupid but I too have thought I was on my way out. Try cutting the coffee out too and do some form of relaxation.

Kind regards
