Hi

i have been ttc for almost 1 year 6 months now but without any luck. Recently I got checked myself in a a reproductive clinic where I took couple of tests, all test results came up to be normal for both me and my husband except my cervical mucus seemed to be not of good quality.

Now I have a concern that I was given clomid(serophene) 100mg per day for 5 days starting from day 5 last month. This month in my ovulation phase I did a postcoital test and doctor said my cervical mucus quality is bad. I am worried now coz I realize that my mucus became kind of dry from last month after I took the clomid. Is this side effect of clomid permanent? Or my cervical mucus will become normal after some time...Since I am no more taking the medicine after 1 round.
I am very worried and also dissapointed by the doctor, since I should not have been given serophene at the first place since my ovulation is normal.

Thanks
roy

Clomid Side Effect (dry Cervical Mucus)
Hello,
i haven't heard of this side effect, but just make sure to advise your Dr. Two months ago I went to see a fertility dr and he put me on chlomid. On day 2 of taking chlomid I was in extreme pain. I contacted my dr and he said that it was probably just constipation and to eat more fiber. The next night I ended up at the emergency room where they were not able to find anything wrong with me. I called the Dr. Back and he said if I am in pain just to take tylenol and if the pain gets worst to go to the er again. The next day I was in the er again. They did give me another ultrasound and said everything was fine, and the blood work did not show any problems. I was supposed to see my dr the next day, but I cancelled the appt since he didn't want to see me when I was in pain, and loss 4 nights of sleep. I made an appt with my gyno and she found a large cycst. The chlomid caused the cycst and now I am suffering from it and will have to put ttc on hold. The fertility dr I was seening was voted one of the top 5 dr in my city and what a joke. I will never recommend him to anyone. Please make sure to educate yourself with all medications that are prescribed and their side effects.

I've just found out that I have pcos and one of the "treatments" for helping with ttc is clomid (as you two well know). So i've been researching it, i've spoken to many women who have or are ttc on clomid and not one of them has mentioned either of these problems.

I'm not here to claim otherwise. I just wanted to let any of the women who read this to know that if these problems did occur with clomid, they are in the minority.

Yes bad quality or no cm is def. A side affect of clomid. It is not a permanent one though. You can try to decrease your clomid dose to 50 and drink lots of water to get your mucus to be more watery.....Or ask your Dr. About what can be done medically to increase cm.

I Read That Dryness of Cm Is a Side Effect
I have been through one cycle of clomid on 50mg tablet but I never experienced poor quality or dry cm because I started taking fish body oil capsules beforehand. I read that taking essential fatty acids help with ttc through producing more sperm friendly cervical mucus but if a person chooses to, you could also take flax seed oil, it will do the same thing without the fishy taste of the capsules i'm taking.
