I used to smoke alot of marijuana for about four years and I quit beause when I was smoking I would get palpitations, I felt uneasy, and thought I was going to die. Sometimes I get palpitations, hard to breathe I feel uneasy, and my arms and legs feel like blood flow is being restricted and they feel numb. My blood pressure goes up. One day after heavy drinking about 3-5 hours after waking up I ran up my stairs to answer my phone and it happened again im freaked out thinking I have a heart problem and I told my doctor about this and he gave me xanax and all it did was knock me out while all this was happening. When I woke up it would start again on and off.

Hi:

i have never smoked marijuana personally but I have read lots of people's posts on here that have very similar experiences as yours. I'm glad that you quit if it was doing these things to you. It does sound a lot like you are suffering for a bit of anxiety. If you have been to your doctor and had a thorough check-up, I wouldn't worry. As long as he said that you are ok... I would believe him. It took me 6 months and about 4 doctors, many office visits, and 2 er visits to get it through my head that I was ok. The fact that he gave you xanax is a pretty good sign that he thinks you are suffering from anxiety as well. Most anxiety, doctors believe, is caused by a chemical inbalance in the brain. My anxiety, as it turns out, was because of a stupid birth control pill that I was on. I switched pills trying to correct something else and my anxiety was gone, just like that. I too, felt like there was something wrong with my heart and I had an intense fear that I was going to die. I didn't figure it out forever, but the anxiety started out of nowhere right after I started that pill and ended just after I switched. For some reason, those hormones messed with my brain. It could just be that the alcohol and marijuana effected you the same way. If you can,i would try to avoid both, or use alcohol in moderation to see if it helps. I hate not feeling like myself so I never used any medications like xanax, but if you don't like it, talk to your doc before you get off to make sure its ok... I know that some of those are dangerous if you just stop taking them. I hope this helps. Good luck, and try not to worry.... I bet that you're just fine. Have a good one. :)
