Hi, my name is melany...I'm 23 and just
went to an infertility dr today and had
him look at some pictures I had from a
laproscopy in which they found
endometriosis and a tissue that connects
my bladder to my colon. I also found out
I have uterus didelphys and i've never
heard of this before? My dr thinks I
might have a blockage on my right side of
uterus and i'm having an mri done next
week....Does anyone have this abnormality
and does it cause problems in having a
baby? I want a big family and want to
know more about it from someone that has
this condition. Please let me know...I'm
so confused. Is it too young to be
considering surgery now?

Hi! I have endometriosis and was
diagnosed in 2004 when I had a
laparoscopy. This is where they make
three very small incisions and use a
camera and laser to diagnose and remove
the endo tissue that has attached itself
in places it shouldn't be. I was 24 when
I had this surgery and it was my first
ever. It was a breeze and barely even
painful (my period cramps were much worse
than this pain). Most women who go for
the surgery have success getting pregnant
soon after. I only started trying in
december of this year...So i'll have to
see how it goes for me.
As for the uterus didelphys . I
personally have no experience with
this...But...I found this very reassuring
link for you. The long and short of it
is...This would not affect your ability to
get pregnant...So much as your ability to
sustain pregnancy. They usually solve
this problem by putting a stitch in the
cervix to keep the opening closed.
(copy and paste this link into the address
bar and change the 'h' in html to lower
case to make it work.)
hope this helps. :)

Thanks for your reply.....Did the doctors
say anything about your endometriosis
effecting your ability to have a baby? In
my surgery they found it in several
places...But now my re thinks that one of
the sides is blocked which could cause
more endometriosis inside the uterus....
Are you on any other treatment for your
condition? Did the doctor say anything
about problems that you might have?
Thanks for the info btw, it was very
helpful!

No problem. As far as my doctor was
concerned...After having the surgery, I
should not have any harder time getting
preggo that someone with out endo. My doc
gave me birth control pills to stop my
periods and therefore prevent the endo
from progressing any further. Once I
decided that I wanted to get preggo...I
would just stop taking the pill. Now...If
after a year of trying to conceive I still
have not become preggo...Then I can try
some of the other treatments they have to
assist in conceiving.
