Constant Dizziness/headaches/fatigue For 12+ Years
Posted: 03-21-06 00:57am

Hey guys,
i have been fighting constant dizziness for over 12 years now, and noone seems to know what's wrong with me so I thought i’d post and see if anyone had some ideas.

My symptoms began during study for the hsc in 1993 and have been continuously with me ever since. The ‘dizziness’ itself is an intense groggy heavyheadedness like being hungover or having a head cold 24/7, and all the constant fatigue and headaches that goes with it. I don’t experience vertigo or any other motion type dizziness.

Other major symptoms (as well as low energy and frequent headaches) include: dry, sore, itchy eyes; poor memory and concentration; brain fog; and neck tension and pain (and inflexibility). However I think the key to finding out what is wrong is the constant (meaning every second of every day for 12 years) grogginess.

>> I have given up litres of blood for tests with no result.
>> liver and thyroid are working fine.
>> blood pressure is okay.
>> I have had two eegs, two mris on my head (10 years apart) and one on my cervical spine, plus one ct scan on my head, with no results (thankfully I guess).
>> have seen a number of neurologists who all told me my brain was fine (so why do I feel like this??)
>> ophthalmologist tested my eyes with no results.
>> went to a hearing and balance clinic years ago and that came back clear.
>> went to 2 sleep doctors to rule out sleep apnoea and other sleeping disorders
>> have tried acupuncture, massage, physio and chiro with no results.
>> i’ve popped my body weight in pills (for anxiety, tension headaches and depression) with no effect.

Sleep seems to be the main thing that makes me have either a day where I can get up and function and get to work etc, or when I don’t sleep well, i’m a complete mess and barely able to think through the grogginess.

So, i’m at a loss what to try next. It’s all beginning to feel hopeless, and the thought of feeling like this until the day I die makes me feel even sicker. Any ideas, no matter how far fetched or silly they might sound are truly welcomed. On the flip side, if these symptoms sound like yours, please post or drop me a line.

ps. I apologise if you’ve read this post in other forums. I’m desperate for ideas and not knowing what is wrong means I don’t slide neatly into specific areas. Cheers.

Hey 7ducks,

i just wanted to let you know that some of those symptoms you're having are very similar to mine, so you're not alone in this. I am also looking for answers and if I find any i'll let you know.

The biggest point you made that i'd have to agree 100% is where you said sleeping is about the only thing that helps, once I finally fall asleep and wake up later, I feel pretty good. However, a few hours later, I start to feel crappy again :(...

Anyways, best of luck to you!

Have you had any success as yet?
I have had the same symptoms for 10 years now and often feel that crook i feel like i am at the end of the road.
Have you seen a Chronic Fatigue Specialist. I have seen a Specialist quite a few times who is convinced beyond doubt that it is a variant of Chronic Fatigue. Have you tried Endep? Does Diazepam or Alprazolam relieve your symptoms slightly? Have you tried Periactin?
Look forward to hearing from you as our symptoms are the most similar i have read of so far.

I go in and out of headpressure/aches, dizziness, out of it feelings, fatigue, hangover feelings but I'm sober, body aches - that could last 1 to 2 weeks then be followed by a week of feeling fine or super. It has been going on for years maybe my whole life.
I have triedlots of holistic stuff but finally saw some psyhiatrists and all agree some type of bipolar disorder. I just started med. so we will see but I am not so sure because i am a happy, optimistic person but i don't know what else to do.
Anyone with suggestions, answers please let me know.

yes

I am happy and sorry to hear others have the exact symptoms as me. I am tired of the feeling of dizziness and hate using eyedops every night. I have had these symptoms for about 1 year and have taken many measures including the regular tests and therapies. I have traveled to china and india to find a cure using spiritual healers and crap but nothing worked. I had an interesting conversation with a fellow while on my journey and he described mutual symptoms I was experiencing. He said he had been experiencing these feeling for about 6 years but no longer has any problems now. I was on the edge of my seat. The last doctor he had visited told him the reason he was experiencing these symptoms was due to a chemical imbalance caused depression. He replyed I'm rich have a great family and have all i could ask for. The doctor told him many people have depression without even knowing it.
(I myself am also very happy and fortunatly have a full family including a successful company and have sufficent time to spend with my kids. i have a very low stress position.)

He did not belive. He started the western medication and within 1 month said he started feeling normal again. he continued the medication for 6 months and has't look back. It has been about 1 year. I am in the process of getting this medication called (cipralex) the medication is a newer version of one which had alot more side effects. this is my regained hope and I will definatly post after I have started this cycle of medication.

Hi,

I have been suffering as well for about ten years with the same type of symptoms. Lots of tests and no results.
I am not a hypochondric nor am I depressed these are the 2 answers I keep getting.
My symptoms go through spurts and can be debilitating for months at a time and then disapear to a more liveable form but I always feel tiered and sick.

I know you wrote your response in 2006, but if you're still experiencing the same symptoms today, this information may help you. If you are a vegetarian or hardly eat meat, then you need a lot of protein and iron. You may also need to drink a lot of water and gatorade per meal to be hydrated as well as getting enough sodium. You might need some sort of a One a Day tablet to get enough vitamins per day. I've read before online that some experiencing the same symptoms as you also have a B-12 deficiency. So you should try "B-complex with C" (helps your body produce more energy, helps maintain nervous & immune system as well as breaking down carbohydrates into energy). I've been experiencing the same symptoms as you and I'm only 25 years old. So I went to CVS yesterday and spoke to a pharmacist technician and she told me that what I need to consume depends on my blood type (I am O+) and she suggested eating romaine lettuce, peanuts, taking B-complex, Iron Supplement tablets (2 per day). I"m also taking Special K Protein bars. I hope this information helps you lose your symptoms. Also, that pharmacy technician was the first person that actually gave me good answers! I went to a nurse practitioner two times who suggested a different type of diet (but did not recommend any pills), and checked my hemoglobin, but that turned out normal. I went to a doctor and the doctor just told me to get more electrolytes in my system and suggested to drink gatorade every day. So maybe in the end, you should consider seeing a nutritionist.

I too have had similar symptoms over the last 5 years and I feel like I have finally controlled it YEAH!!!! Every test I had was normal. MRI (s) cat scans, blood work, full body scan, stress test, ekg, nuerological makeup the list does go on. I have finally controlled it with vitamins and avoiding certain food. For me vits are 250 mg of liquid magnesium when i wake up and 25 mg of b-6 off and off and on b-2. My foods to avoid are MSG, Spinach, WALNUTS, PEACANS, soy lecithin Oh and did I mention WALNUTS. Dizziness has disapeared. I still was not 100% and went to a homeopath. She put me on a couple natural items and wollah, I fell like a new person. I still get some symptoms but only 2-3 times a month and it is usually because I'm not paying attention to the ingredient labels. I hope this info helps. There is help out there and many people I feel who do find help feel so good they forget to come back to sites like this to spread the word. Let me know if any one has had sucess with b-6 and magnesium. I am curious if it is just my savior or if others have benefitted.

Feeling like Death
Posted: 05-23-08 16:46pm

WOW, I cant believe I found a site where other people are dealing with this stuff! Im at the point where progressivly over the years its gone from bad to worse. Its at the point where i need to seriously consider taking a leave from work because I cant function any more. Im still waiting for the results from the sleep test I just took at the hospital a few months ago- at this point, the best my doctor has to offer is sleeping pills (which dont really help the problem) and waiting for my sleep test results.

I dont know what to do, i cant shake the dizzyness, spaceiness, headaches, eyes itching/scratching- only today I explained to a friend its just like having a 24/7 hangover/flu.

What else should I try?

my 4 years of dizziness hell
Posted: 05-30-08 07:21am

I have suffered from constant 24/7 dizziness for 4 years now and its completly ruining my life. i feel like i have cotton wool filling my head, everything seems dream like, when i stand up and walk about the floor seems to move under my feet and i feel i need to lye down again very fast.when i look at things they seem to swing back and forth and i also have the feeling of gently rocking back and forth. When i try to get to sleep the bed seems to be moving under me and i struggle to fall and stay asleep for long. I am constantly tired and emotional ,and suffer from depression and paranioa, worrying i wil never get better after four years of feeling this way.

I have been to the doctors time and time again, seen a ENT specialist who said im fine, a Neurologist who said im fine, and Opticians who said im fine.I feel like no one takes me seriously, and im getting so frustrated and have suicidal thoughts, which seems like the only way to stop this relentless bad feeling.

Can anyone suggest something for me to do next to try and finally get to the bottom of this life stopping condition, I would be so greatfull if anyone can help or advise me on what to try next!!!! thanks for reading this, i hope to get a reply soon.

When is it going to stop?
Posted: 06-29-08 17:33pm

Every since I had a death in my family I've been experiencing poor memory and concentration; brain fog; and neck tension and pain. I have given up litres of blood for tests with no result.
Liver and thyroid are working fine.
Blood pressure is okay.
I have had eeg, a mri on my head plus one ct scan on my head, with no results (thank God)
have seen a neurologists who all told me my brain was fine (so
why do I feel like this??)
results. I keep getting these sharp pains all over my body and I dont understand what's going on.. I feel like it's never going to stop... My family and my man are to the point where they really dont want to hear it because I've always been so strong and healthy and out of nowhere all of this.. Everyday it seems to be something different, What do I do?

Every since I had a death in my family I've been experiencing poor memory and concentration; brain fog; and neck tension and pain. From time to time I get palpatations only when I lay down @ night. I don't sleep well @ night only during the day. I get tremors in my sleep as if I'm cold and Im shivering inside of my body. I sometimes have this tingling sensation in my chest, it feels like my food is stuck in my throat. I have given up litres of blood for tests with no result.
