It depends on what type of pill you're on. Some pills you can skip a period by going straight onto the next pack and not having a seven day break. Ask your dr, pharmacist, family planning clinic or planned parenthood clinic for advice.

Hi

i was in your situation about two weeks ago. I was going on vacation for spring break and of course, my period would have happened right when I was gone. So I skipped the placebo pills and just went straight to my next pack. It worked fine, but I did have a little bit of cramping. My doctor told me this was ok, but not to do it very often. If periods bother you, there is a pill called seasonale where you only have 4 periods a year. You could look into that as an option, but I don't think that skipping pills in order to skip your period long term is a good idea. Hope this helps! Have a good one.

You could do this every month and it would not adversely affect your health. (but discuss this with your doctor who knows your individual medical history). When my mother was experiencing fibroids, her doctor told her to skip the placebo pills and start new packs each month as her periods brought with them intolerable cramping.

The lining of your uterus does not continuously build up if you miss your periods. It is regulated by your hormone levels which change throughout the month. Material that is not shed when it normally should, like during your period, is often reabsorbed into the body. So, if you skip periods for one month or two, when you do have a period you're not going to experience a super-period or anything. Most of the .Women on seasonale experience the same period as they did before they began that method.
Peace,
jenn
