Dear everyone,

i called an old friend last week after about more than a year lost contact, and realised her mind is very different. She said she often taked to bin laden and president bush in a conference, and sometimes people were trying to hurt her. She afraid of everyone and locked herself mostly all day in her room until at night she came out and eat. The conversation with her was inconsistence (example asking on one subject and she replied something totally different, and inconsistence) . She has been like this for the last 8 months ( I called again yesterday asked her monther).

I told her to see doctor, but she refuses because she said “if I describe my condictions to doctor, they will think I am crazy”,and she doesn’t want anyone thinks her as a crazy person.

I want to help her, she lives in boston, and I am in los angeles. I probably will have to fly there for couple days and arrange all the helps for her. But before I go there, I was wondering if anyone here point me resources in east boston area, especially logan. She has been unemployed since her sickness, and she doesn’t have insurance nor any financial aids. She lives with her parent and they can barely find food on the table. Please advise what is the first thing I need to do?

Regards,
v.

Their has got to be some way to get some assistance for the family or at least for her after all, who will she have after her family passes on, if you really want to get involved, check with the state and try to get her a social service worker that might be able to help her. I do not know what it is like in boston. Is she under Dr.'s care? It is good to see that you do care.
You might even cotact the schizophrenia association, they may bee able to lead you in the right direction do you know if she is on any meds for her condition?
Good luck!
Hope this helps
let us know what you find out.

Dear sandyallen,

thank you for your replied, and to answer your question, no she is not on any medication at this moment nor doctor's care. Obviously she said she is not sick, and she doesn't want to see any doctor. Her parent can't persuate her to see doctor, and regarding about medical and latest technologies are beyond her parent knowledges.

I talked to her mother yesterday, and her mother was crying in the conversation.

Regarding about social service, I have no idea about this, how do I find them in her area? If you or anyone in here could point out some number, email, or web address is appreciated.

Thanks
v.

Hi there! You might be able to find something on the web about disability services in her area, this isthrough her state, the tate of boston, it might help her family also. In our area it is senior and diabled services. I hope that the mother is not afraid of loosing her daughter, your friend does sound in a lot of denial. You might also find some help for her through the schitzophrenia association throu the webb, I do not know too much about that association. You might also call the chamber of commerce in their area. I am nooo Dr. But it does sound like she needs one as something has happened. I know one thing her and her family has my blessings along with you for trying to help, it is just that you are so far away, my opinion is is that if she does not get help soon she could get worse. Could it have been a nervous breakdown or something like that, we really do not know, it might be beyond our help, she might need a professional to talk to and possibly some meds. You can always start with welfare and they can help you with the assistance you need.
She should get applid for .S.S.I and then they can help her into whatever else she can get into but she will have to see a dr because it is kind of obvious she cannot work anymore.
Good luck!
I am here for you!

Why don't you email mindfreedom. Ask david oaks if he knows of someone in boston who can help your friend. I would start with a therapist who specializes in delusions without using meds. Good luck!
