An erectional bypass is a surgical procedure known as revascularization. Erectional bypasses are most successful in younger men who have small blockages in the arteries, usually caused by a traumatic injury to the crotch area, or a fractured pelvis. During such a procedure, an artery is taken from the leg and then surgically connected to the arteries at the back of the penis, circumventing the blockages and restoring blood flow. Sometimes, however, the procedure may have to be repeated to be effective.
