Q: Missed a Pill

It turns out that I must have missed a pill completely somewhere... I was cleaning off my desk and I had a pill sitting on my desk and I have no idea when it got there because I dont remember missing the pill at all. I also more worried because I was on antibiotics, we waited about a week before we had unprotected sex but now that I found this pill it makes me even more worried. I am supposed to get my period on tuesday and I took a preg. Test today (2 days before my period) it said not preg. How accurate is that though? Also I have been extrememly emotional lately and I didnt know if missing the pill could have helped cause this. I always cry a lot before my period but this time seems like it is a lot worse than normal (including crying after making love to my bf) is it possible that this has caused my uncontrollable crying?

Finding out that you missed a pill and thinking you could be pregnant is gonna cause anyone to be emotional...

If you already took a pregnancy test, than most likely you're in the clear. But it's accuracy depends on when you had sex last (in relation to how long you waited to take a pregnancy test). If it was the day or so before, it might not be that accurate.

Well I was emotional before I found out I missed the pill... And I took the test tonight and the last time I had sex was friday (so that would be 2 days). I distinctly remember taking my pill that friday and I took it yesterday, so the one that I found must have either been from thursday or last weekend (since that is the only time I am at home) I guess I will just wait and see if I get my period.. I was just hoping ot set my mind at ease until then.

Yeah...Then i'm thinking that you took the pregnancy test a little too early, so it might not be accurate. I'm not sure the exact amount of days it takes for hgb to show up, but I think the minimum is 5...

Yeah I figured it was too early... I heard that it takes ten days to be accurate. I did take the morning after pill (but I am not sure if it will work because I could have missed this pill a week ago... And in that case it would be too late already) so right now I am waiting... I am extra scared though because I was on antibiotics and we were careful (using condoms) for a week after I got off the antibiotics, but that week ended after my period so I only got in maybe 2 pills with out the antibiotics. I am really kind of worried about it.

I understand your being worried, but it sounds like there's only a very very very slim chance that you could be pregnant.

Little Problem

Hi everyone, a couple of weeks or so ago, I missed one of my birth control pills, and had unprotected sex that day, so the next day I took 3 birth control pills, whats the chance i'm pregnant?

taking 3 birth control pills at once is not going to ensure that you will not become pregnant. Emergency contraception, which contains the same hormones as birth control pills, is effective because it is at a much higher concentration than your average birth control pill. You would have to take a few packs at once to equal the same protection that emergency contraception gives. However, from what you have posted, I do not think that you have any increased chance of pregnancy. It usually takes more than one skipped pill (unless this was your first pill pack) to trigger an ovulation. Still, in the future, don't self-medicate.
