Welcome peppermintpatty girl,
My heart goes out to you, its very complicated issue having asthma and vcd. VCD does come with some panic issues. Its been 2 years now since my diagnoses and i went to speech therapist to learn how to do short sniff breathing to open and retrain the vocal cords. This must be done to retrain them as when having an asthma attack, u can't do the short sniff breathing. ( u do this by sitting with the mouth slightly open, and gently sniffing, so that your nostrils move, u can feel the vocal cords opening, look in the mirror and look at your nose, the sides of the nose will move a bit, its just a short quick sniff. ) do this 5 times in a row, 5 times a day.. I know its a pain but it does help.
Now who diagnosed your asthma? Was it an asthma specialist?? Very important that it be done by a specialist!! This will help as he should have knowledge of vcd. That noise from the throat is VCD, Asthma doesn;t always wheeze as you may be congested and not know it. Please concentrate on not panicing when your scared, deep breath, say in your mind don;t panic!! and deep breath.. I hope this helps, it may seem stupid but its not, gotta do the breathing for at least a year,, get into a routine, do it on the toilet loll have a good day ww
