Acne And the Pill Posted: 03-19-06 13:34pm
I have been told that my acne is hormone
related. I am picker and I know that I
need to stop. I was taking this pill
diane-35 but I was buying it off the
internet and my doctor wanted me to stop.
Diane-35 really helped me out with the
acne but now I am taking ortho-lo and I am
breaking out especially around my upper
lip and chin. I use to never get pimples
on my cheek but now I am. I have already
been on accutane and I am using retin-a
now but nothing seems to be clearing.
They are really red and hurt alot. Does
ortho-lo help with acne? What can I
do?
I hate it when my skin gets like this I am
25 years old I shouldn't have pimples!

Because acne is hormone related many
believe that the pill works wonders
because it regulates your hormones, but
for some there can be an adverse effect
which might trigger your hormones even
more as opposed to regulating them. I've
been using proactive it seems to be
working also don't use anything with
alcohol in it, it might make your acne
worse. I've also been controlling what I
eat and trying to stay away from fried
food, junk, red meat things of that
nature... Good luck!
P.S picking causes scarring I used to pick
too but you have to force yourself to stop

You have got to stop taking bcpills.
There are other methods like nfp or
barrier methods that do not pump you with
hormones and chemicals.

My sister asked the doctor about this
about a year ago. The key is if your
pills contain hormones with lower androgen
activity. Some that would work are
desogen, brevicon, and ortho tri-cyclen.
These kind work the best against acne.
