Tb is spread through the air from one person to another. The bacteria are put into the air when the active person coughs or sneezes. People near the person may breath in the bacteria and become infected. If he has been on meds for it he shouldnt be contagious after a few weeks. I would find out how long he has been taking meds and if he is taking them regularly.

If you are worried about the possiblity of your having tb, go get a tb test done. Its a very simple test, won't hurt and it will put your mind at ease. The health department or your doctor's office can do a tb test. (just tell them you are friends with someone that has tb and you just want to be safe and know for sure).

There isn't a vaccine against tb. Its not something that people have to worry about catching like a cold or anything. But its quite common to get tested for tb if you work with the public. I've had to have tb tests to work at a school as well as to work with elderly. The tb test is really simple and it will put your mind at ease so please go get one.

If you don't have a doctor call your area's health department, they might do them there. I know my area's health dept will do a tb test for five dollars.
