Hi everyone,my sister-in-law has just been told she has cervical cancer,we think shes had it for a least 6months,as they thought it was fibroids at first,what happens now,and what are her chances,any info would be a great help,thankyou

I don't know much about cervical cancer so I can't be of much help but I thought i'd tell you that my grandmother had cervical cancer when she was in her forties. She had a hysterectomy and lived to the ripe old age of ninety one before passing a natural death this past jan. I don't know how far along she was when it was caught but that was way back before the modern treatments and technology. So hopefully your sister will get thru this relatively well now that she's been diagnosed.

What stage is her cervical cancer? Usually they will perform a minor operation called a leep or a cone biopsy to remove the bad cells. If that doesn't work, a hysterectomy is the next option. Only in more advanced stages do they do more than that.

I hope she is well. Try not to worry until she gets all the tests done. It may just be dysplasia. Even high grade dysplasia is easily treated.

Morning glory and ingi,thanks for your reply,s they are incouraging,and of great help,i have passed on your reply and it has put her at ease a littl bit she is going for her scan on monday to see if it has spread,so untill then we are non the wiser,iwill keep u informed of the out come,thank again you take care now.
