Must Read
Is mononucleosis bacterial or viral? Does everyone get mono at some time? How does mono spread? Basic facts and definitions about "the kissing disease". ...
Do you know what causes mono? Although children are more at risk than adults, what can you do to avoid getting sick from mono? Review risk factors here....
The symptoms of mono may not manifest for everyone who contracts the Epstein-Barr virus. But when are symptoms serious? And when should you seek medical help?...
I noticed that over 5000 people have viewed the topic about the rash that comes from taking certain types of medicine while having mono. So obviously im having the same problem. It's been about 3 weeks now and i've discovered the power of benedryll is very helpful but still not enough to really kill the itching and pain the rash causes. It's interesting how my rash went because it's started at the top of my body and moved down all the way to my ankles and feet. For the past week i've experienced severe swelling of my ankles and feet and has finally gone down. It seemed the rast was leaving my body out through the ends of my toes but tonight i've discovered that im breaking out all over again on my neck, chest and arms. Wow! What is really going on here? I really dont know if I can go through what I went through the first time I had the rash in these areas I thought I was going to need a padded cell to live in for awhile. Anyways if anyone has been through this or if anyone from the other thread that was started has completed his or her tortcher could you drop me a line and let me know how much longer I have to endure this pain.

Thanks

I am so with you -- I''ve read a lot of threads about how awful this rash is, but I have experienced the same long-lasting symptoms that you mentioned. My rash started on my chest and neck and now, at least 11 days later, the rash is mostly localized to my hands, ankles and feet with major major swelling and redness in my lower legs and ankles. I keep getting told that this rash is self-limiting, but I have never had a doctor explain to me how long this rash actually lasts. Someone needs to do much more conclusive research on the causes and remedies of this thing so that this doesn''t happen to people for a month.

Rash from hell is right, anyone out there have the answer?
I have actually had this rash for almost 3 months now. It's all over my entire body now. My skin is now raw and dry. I have scars from scratching at it. It is absolutely horrible. I had a doctor who told me it was bed bugs. He didn't have a clue either. Haha. I've been through the million dollar workup.

My new doctor put me on steroids before we found out I had mono. They aren't helping and making me feel severely nauseous and more fatigued than I was before. I've tried benedryl, currently taking singulair . Neither are strong enough and aren't working. I've felt every single symptom of mono and ebv. Hopefully it doesn't get worse and this is it. I bet this is just as much of a mystery to you as it is to me :/ I am also hoping that now that they know what is wrong, they will be able to do something. But who knows.
