I am a 39 year old male who was told 4
years ago this month that I had a heart
attack but only had mild coronary artery
disease in my lad. I got a 2nd opinion
in st louis and was told they could not
figure out why I had my attack but I was
also told that where the blockage is I
have a myocardial bridge in that same
spot. I have a known 51% blockage in my
lad after I had a cardiac cath done with a
ultrasound. I was also told that the o2
reserve level in that area was 0.83 and
that 0.75 was critical. I was wondering
if anyone could help me with any answers
as my drs. Are stumped as to what to do.
Thanks

Hi,
i read your post and my 40 year old
husband had been diagnosed with a
myocardial bridge also and has had severe
symptoms for the past 4 years he just had
surgery in january to correct the problem.
He was on many meds and they were not
fully taking care of the symptoms in his
case.
He had what is called myotemy where they
released the constricted artery by
dividing the heart muscle.
We have found out that it is probably
genetic.
If there are any question we can help you
with please let us know. We were going
through the same thing as you as you,
some doctors were stumped. He was in the
emergency room all the time and they never
heard of it or knew what to do with him.
It took a long time to find out what was
causing his problems.
If meds aren't working for you I would
pursue checking into surgery before
problems become so severe. If there is
anything we can help you with please feel
free to respond. We know it's hard to
find other people with this problem out
there.
