Am I Infertile?
Posted: 03-16-06 21:11pm

I just started taking the pill recently, but before that I had been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend for well over a year (i know, I know...Not the smartest thing to do) and never became pregnant. Does this mean that there is a good chance one of us is infertile?

I was just wondering, because I know a couple is clinically declared "infertile" if having tried for a year straight to concieve does not have any success.

By the way, we aren't trying to conceive...It's just that I haven't after such a long time.

Trying for a year would have meant 12 months of having intercouse during your most fertille days. Most people determine their fertile days by using ovulation tests.

My guess is that during the past year you were having sex whenever the mood hit you, rather than during your most fertilie days. Some of the times may have been during fertile days and some may have not.

My point is...You may not have actually had intercourse during your fertile days for the past 12 months.

If your periods are regular...It's more than likely you just had sex during "safe" days.

We had sex on a weekly basis, before and after my period.

Not everyday, but still... The only time we didn't have sex was during my period, unless it was unusually light (and I only remember that happening once)...

I don't know, it still scares me to think about it.

Theoretically, under the definitions of infertility.

12 months of trying is technically labelled as having infertility problems.
