Q: Hysterectomy required due to large fibroid...how will it eff
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 16th, 2006
Hi,

i have a large fibroid and was recommended to do a hysterectomy.

I don't want to do it because of the possible effects on sex live and such. I found an alternative of removing fibroid with the laser at the institute for female alternative medicine. This surgery is performed by Dr. Del Junco Jr. in his clinic in Glendale, Ca.

Have you heard of it? Is it safe and easy as they appear to say it is? What would be your recommendations?

Would appreciate any info on this.

Thanks

Hysterectomy Answer A654
If you are not planning to have more children, it seems the best course to remove the entire uterus. The ovaries will remain, so the impact on your sex life will be temporarily affected until the wound heals. With intact ovaries, you are still able to produce hormones which aid sexual stimulation.
