I have been taking this medication for almost 2 years and just found out that it should not be taken long term..I am usually taking 1 to 3 a day.

I was wondering if your body becomes immune to it after a long period of time...Does anybody know?

Yes, I am taking .5 mg a day. I just started seeing another doctor and he told me that this medication should not be taken long term.

I am seeing him again next week and he will prescribe something else for me. I am afraid of trying something new, because of the side effects it may have.

I get very anxious just thinking about it.

Have you had your appointment yet? How did it go? Did he switch meds?

Hi jenrninmi, I went to the doctor yesterday, and he prescribed clonazampam 0.5 mg. I have to take that for 2 days, then start effexor, 1/2 a capsule for 3 days then a full capsule for 4 days, and have another appointment with him next week, because he wants to see what effects I am having, if any.. He is a really good doctor, and explained the medication really well. I hope it goes well for me.

i know this is a couple of years old, but i was wondering what the results were of the last medication you reported taking. i also took ativan, but only for two months, for a total of 30 pills. it gave me a numbing feeling. they told me it was highly addictive. i seem to have panic disorder and hadn't had a panic attack--although i had daily anxiety--until tonight. tonight i had my first panic attack in months and it felt horrible. before i took the ativan, which is only as needed to provide almost immediate relief, i tried taking a long term medication--celexa. however, just after one dose-after the very first pill i took--i had the most horrific panic attack i ever experienced. i was rushed to the emergency room. this is where ativan was given to me. i want something to take this away. just minutes ago, i had this terrible fear, uncontrollable shaking, shortness of breath, pale skin, dizziness. these are how my panic attacks usually feel. i need some help. i don't want to experience this again.i can't control it when it strikes, i feel totally helpless when this feeling hits me.
