I have had this numb like feeling on the right side of my head and arm for over a month now. After the numbness subsided I got alot of pressure on the right side of my head and especially under my eye. I was lying in bed one night and I heard this crackling sound at the base of my head and this warm sensation went up to my forhead. Now my neck/spine hurts. If I move my head a certain way it shoots a pain up my neck into my head. At times I have trouble swallowing. Sometimes there is a burning sensation on different parts of my face, my feet and hands tingle. I wake up sometimes and my arms and head feel like they are asleep. My feet and hands feel like they are asleep quite often, I have been to the er a couple of times and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. They did a catscan and nothing showed up. I had an mri done last week and the results were: c 4-5 disc protrusion with questionable bony degenerative change with mild right side foraminal encroachment. C 6-7 broad disc bulge and degenerative end plate to the left of midline with leftsided foraminal emcroachment. My physician said it boiled down to me having advanced arthritis in my spine. The nuerologist that I saw yesterday said it wasent that bad. He couldn't explain some of the symptoms I am having especially with the face stuff I got going on. Does anyone ahve any comments on this? I hate to think I have to live with this. My physician gave me samples of lyrica to try , its been over a week now and the only difference I feel is that my head dosent hurt as often. Jenny

Nagging Neck Pain
Hi

you have mild cervical spondylosis. It means that your spine joints have something like 'arthritis' (like in knee). You dont need surgery at this stage. You can wear cervical collar at traveling, gardening etc to restrict your neck movements. You need to do regular neck exercises so that your spine joints are in good shape. Also most importantly you need to change your lifestyle a lot so that you dont misuse your spine, 'cause if that condition worsens, you may land up with surgeons knife!
Feel free to communicate. Cheers

Hi arunlnaik
I tried to get to your blog, it is not working. I spoke to someone at uva, they said that the disc that are messed up should in no way shape or form be causing my head/face to be numb and tingling. Its got me wondering if there is something else going on. But if I push onmy neck in a certain spot it sends the pain up through my head, or if I move my head a certain way I feel it go up through my head. I seems like it has to be connected somehow. Any thoughts? Jenny

Fascial Pain
Sounds like a tm joint problem. See a chiropractor who knows how to work with this. I just had a similar type of patient in the office. The problem is resolving with chiropractic adjustments and myofascial treatment using graston technique

Neck Pain
I had severe neck pain numbness in my hand arm wasting away and seen various consultants with wild ideas of what was wrong even viral infections. I was in that much pain and on so many serious pain killers I travelled to London and was diagnosed in less than 60 seconds put in hospital operated next day and was pain free;-) Try Mr Sanj Bassi he was the only one that knew what was wrong the others did not have a clue. And pain free is just great, might not solve your problem but guarentee he'll tell ya whats wrong.
