Q: seeing woman

Hello. I don't know where to start. I wonder if someone can tell me what could be wrong. When I was around 3 or 4, I started seeing an image of a woman. She wears what appears to be a black wedding dress. She has messy hair. She always stands by my door when I do see her. She only spoke to me once. She said, "shhh, it's okay." i'm afraid of her still to this day. I dream about her, and sometimes I believe I can feel her presence. After many years, I was talking to my older brother. The topic came up, even though we had never talked about it before. He has seen her as well. Now i'm not sure if she is real or imagined. We established by our ages, I was the first to start seeing her. Now days, I stay up all night securing the windows and doors, cause i'm afraid of intruders. After doing so, I think, " man they got me now, now i'm trapped, cause I nailed the windows shut, they tricked me." then after that, i'm afraid she's here. What is wrong with me? I'm now afraid of doors and can't sleep unless I can see them. They can't be behind me. I hate windows as well. Please can someone help me make sense of this. I just need a logical explaination. Thank you for your time.

I know how you feel. Ever since I was 17 I wake up and see demons either strangling me or standing over me... Sometimes I also see spiders crawling up the walls. Becuase of this I wont leave my chair out incase it invites them to comeand sit in it .. Or any electrical appliances plugged incase they switch them on.

Yes I have fears over seeing her in the past. I sometimes feel her presence if you know what I mean. I tell myself it's not real, although I don't know. Doctors call the symptoms of two siblings seeing the same thing as, shared psychotic disorder. One being the primary and the other submissive. I would be the primary, for I saw her first. The last time I saw her was 6 years ago. I'm just afraid of seeing her. I've nailed my windows shut cause now i'm afraid someone will break in, but then I think someone has tricked me or made me do it, so then I think this is funny now this is how I die. Sometimes I hear a voice call my name. I think everyone has that happen from time to time. That's always a male voice. Last week, someone asked if they could come in the bathroom. I assumed it was my niece or her mother. I felt the door touch my arm, pushed it shut, and said no. When I came out I told them next time to just wait. They looked confused, cause no one came by the door. I think this is the brains way of keeping it functioning correctly, but who knows? Everytime I heard the voice I was always wide awake walking around. There were times I saw the woman and I was just waking up and others I was fully awake. I do suffer from severe anxiety and depression. Maybe this is my brains way of coping. I was once put on risperadal, which I stopped using. I don't even know why I was on it. I refuse to take meds without proof. Now if they did an mri and showed me I had an abnormal brain, sure I would believe them. When you don't even know why your on risperadal and what it's for, why keep taking them? So I haven't taken that med in years. Anyways, thank you for replying. Hope everything is well with you.

Take Help Immediately
Your description clearly "suggests" that you are having hallucinations - auditory and visual also.
You must go to a psychiatrist immediately and take help.
Please remember - no one in the world can prove that you have any mental illness to you through mri or any other test. Medical science has not advanced to that stage yet regarding mental illness.

It is nothing wrong to go to a doctor and get help - he will decide. In all the mental illnesses , you must remember the person concerned thinks he is normal.

I too thought so , until I recovered from bipolar disorder. And I expericed hallucinations as you are.

I'm curious if you have a certain religious affiliation? Would you mind commenting on that?

No I don't mind commenting. I was raised a baptist, and still remain to this day. I believe there is such things as demons, cause the bible clearly states that, but the bible also clearly states that all signs and such have passed away. Not to say a person couldn't come in contact with a demon or even see one. I don't know what to say exactly about what I saw. I'm not superstitious about such things if that's what your looking for. Anyways, thanks for talking with me. I really appreciate it.

I am in a self help group for mentally ill . I have seen many people where the illness many times gets mixed up with the religious beliefs , specially when the religious affiliation is strong. It is common , since religion has got very important influence on us from childhood. We go to church before we go to school !.
But do not mix up disease with religion. People with bipolar or schizophrenia often get delusions of religious nature. Hallucinations also spring forth from our subconscious only. Hence it is better to consider if it is an illness if there is no joy in what you are experiencing. If there is joy , peace in what your are experiencing , then it is religious , otherwise it is related to illness.
I am very religious myself from childhood and suffered with bipolar disorder and had delusions of religious nature too ..Hence trying to share my experience. Do not mind if you feel otherwise.
